Will depend on the tranny and the sweet spot of rpm's, but in general as you know;
-Lower gearing(higher numerical R&P, ie my new 4.88's) will increase RPM's in a specific gear = more power on tap = typically this will not help increase MPG's.
-Higher gearing(lower numerical R&P, ie my stock...
We'll see how the Nitro 4.88 rear sounds. To me it's worth the cost to try.
My truck came with 3.73's, so the bump to 4.88's will be the sweet spot for 37" tires I think. If I could have found a rig with factory 4.30's (very challenging to find in a pickup, even my chassis cab took time to find...
Thx Chad, and Howard.
I remember reading that interview now. Kinda cool that they let the buyer choose the batteries; hopefully that's a positive for dealers/installers too.
Good point about driving down a narrow and treed trail, where there's a possibility of branches getting stuck between camper and front poptop actuators. Maybe they could build a deflector guard at the front of the actuator to deflect branches?
So no BaseCamp HW(hard wall), only SW(soft wall)...
Update on gears/front Eaton e-locker, as it's been a saga;
#1 After we found the rear of my truck has the Sterling 10.5" vs Advantek 275mm, we got the correct Sterling 10.5" Yukon 4.88 R&P and master install kit shipped from ECGS (Will swapped them out and covered shipping for the return...
In my research, I've never seen an engine/exhaust brake be effective on a petrol engine based on engine design differences between petrol and diesel. Banks exhaust brake works wonders on our diesel shop truck though.
No, different tool. I found one video;
@montypower what does your 37" Yoko...
I concur on the 4.30's, and since I'm in the middle of installation of 4.88's (on a truck that came with 3.73's) due to going with 37" tires, let me just say that it's SOOO much less $ to go with factory 4.30 gears vs upgrade later.
Enjoy your package, should be awesome for you and your son!
:giggle: Yes, a TC camper would be a competitor to the ATO AterraXL, but I disagree that the AterraXL hard walled camper uses the space, namely the upper portion of the camper (ie above countertop height), any different than the HBE/BaseCamp soft walled/poptop does, as it doesn't. No upper...
Re-read post 3; "Looking at new."
Both the G550 and G63 will run on 87oct or 89oct vs 91/92oct, they'll just ping/knock and the ECU/DME will adjust accordingly. Spark plugs will need to be changed more often. Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the fuel filter more often.
PS--frantic...
True. How much equivalency is it in titanium or magnesium?
You're welcome.
I believe they've already weighed Mario's prototype on his RAM, hence the 1250lbs wet; which is excellent yes!
No 37s with 3.73s first, main reason is that I need the Carli/King Pintop susp on first before I can add...
True on the HBE tray. So $75k for a "base" HBE/tray vs $160k for a "base" BaseCamp; HBE setup is still half that of the BaseCamp. Both have many optional extras for more $ (including house batteries).
$3000; depends on which state your custom fabricator is in. ;)
Unfortunately the main reason...
Because there is a ~$80,000+ USD price difference between the HBE and the BaseCamp! A custom shower pan and slide-out potti into the entryway could be fabricated for much less than 3% of that delta.
This recent article now says a Nimbl is $267k and doesn't include the truck (and maybe not even...
Certainly. An option for my truck was 11,300 GVWR; I believe maybe with the add'l camper package with heavier rate springs.
Agreed on upgraded susp, proper tires and re-gearing. Brakes are ultra important to me as well. Stock rotors on my F350 are 14.3"F/R, which is pretty good, but bigger is...
