OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

Actually, I use a 4x8’ roll of that stuff (though its the 3mm thinner version) on top of the awning when it’s hot in the sun. Really blocks the solar gain and cuts the heat dramatically in the inside of the awning. I just clip it to the edges of the awning with binder clips. Not sure how it...

Here you go. Sorry don’t have a good one in real use, this is right when we got the rig. Short story: The awning is well made and has stood up well. Handles wind and rain fine. Con: can get hot. Would not buy it again due to the heat issue, but it’s manageable for me. For more specifics...

An incident worth talking about. Kinetic Recovery Accident.

Thanks for that. Thought they were the same. Found the vid, and it is indeed Pinyon Mountain. You can see the well meaning, but bad spotting directing her to go passenger up the embankment causing the initial roll. Or maybe he was trying to warn her, but regardless had no idea how to...

An incident worth talking about. Kinetic Recovery Accident.

I have never agreed more with a post on EP than this one! Excellent layout of the critical issues, especially this statement, which we all should have pasted to the sun visors in our rigs to see every time we're out: "Recovery isn't just the pieces, it's a process, and it's the process that...

+ 1 for Victron. Never had a problem. The app for my smart shunt always works even when I delay updates.

Experienced opinions and concerns on pop ups and canopy campers

It’s a really compelling presentation and design IF you want a wedge camper. Really like a lot of the features and approach, especially the folding hardsides. I can see the appeal for sure. A few thoughts: — Still in prototype. Worth learning about the company. Lot of folks got screwed by...

An incident worth talking about. Kinetic Recovery Accident.

Ronnie Dahl on YouTube (Four Wheeling Australia) has a really good video where he tests and shows the damage from both metal and synthetic lines. Remarkably he has some pretty clear video of synthetic lines rebounding significantly. It looks like enough that if the strap or soft, shackle or...

An incident worth talking about. Kinetic Recovery Accident.

Agreed for winching, but I been wondering what would happen with the hood up in a kinetic recovery? Seem’s like a good precaution, but I wonder if the lurch as the stuck vehicle moves would bend the hood back and damage it? Has anybody tried this?

    255/85r17 Anyone running them?

I’d be real interested to hear how the Baja Bosses affect your mileage. I've looked at them and been interested in them, but they are a lot heavier than just about any other tire in nearby sizes. I'd love to have that size and toughness, though.

Thanks for posting this up @Metcalf , it’s a great reminder, food for a good review and discusson, and kudos to Caleb for doing an objective post-mortem. He’s a lucky guy to be alive. I am struck that most of the comments and replies are focused around the potential for equipment failure...

    F250 flatbed camper build

Very nicely done set up! Can you comment on your experience with bison in building the camper? I have heard some issues from some people in working with them or getting the result they were looking for.

    Wall-mounted vent fan options

It looks like it should be! You could mount a 12v computer fan on the inside cowl, but I doubt it would give enough draw or push for good ventilation. Maybe!?🤔

    Wall-mounted vent fan options

If you’re talking about the grey vent mounted on the front wall corner in the picture, that’s an unpowered marine vent a lot of us are using as a positive pressure vent with topper type campers. They are great, but don’t move air unless the vehicle is moving or it’s being drawn in by a fan...

Best hoses and connectors for plumbing a water system?

Can’t speak to your type of system as mine is very simple 1/4” drawing from scepter cans with a Dometic faucet, but these guys are an excellent source for seemingly nearly everything, if you’re not aware of them. https://www.freshwatersystems.com/

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned about Barn Doors vs Hatch is that the BDs have multiple other uses. We’ve found them useful as wind, and sun blocks. You can create a hold fast to keep them open in line with the N/S axis of the camper for visual and wind/sun blocks. We will drape a small...
