I'm using 2x3x1/8. That's what my aftermarket swing arm is on the jeep, and I haven't had any issues with it. For the mount, the hinge is only 3" from the body so the deflection in the tube is negligible. The jack receivers only had 1"-1.5" welds, 3 on each side. I welded the new tubes on fully...
I got started on the modifications to the trailer for my swing out tire carrier. I moved the jack receiver tube back 2" and out about 4". I chopped up part of the shipping frame to put in to weld the jack receiver tube to. Where the jack receiver tube was, I welded in 2"x2"x1/4" tube to hold the...
Looks great! I don't remember if I posted it here but the little ball stretch cords work great for holding the handles up. https://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-ball-stretch-cord-set-47302.html
Yeah, the negative tongue weight concerns me, like I said it would only be for emergency use and I would probably shift some weight around to minimize that. I'm looking forward to getting the tire moved to the back and gaining maneuverability. I could also us the 2" tube out the front to give me...
Yep, just finished of a plate of burnt end brisket boudin, where all of the ingredients are cooked on the smoker!
I was just talking with one of the guys that I'm going to run High Water Mark with next weekend and he mentioned putting me in the back in case we have to turn around so I'll...
Mine is pretty much like Midnightsun's. Attached to plywood in the back of the tongue box. I wish I would have put my fuse box a bit higher like his though.
Finally recieved my awning and got it mounted up. I still need to add a stiffener from the hinge end to the mounting location. It looks...
I know that I keep flip flopping on my tire carrier design, but here is what I'm currently thinking.
Cut off and move the 2" tube that the stabilizer jacks slide into forward 2" and outward some. Add a tube above it in the pocket created between it and the bottom of the trailer. Add heavy 2"...
Yeah, a door latch like one off of a vehicle would be a good solution. An angled piece below the door would also work. Kinda like what is used on rear bumper swingouts, there is a small piece of rubber on the bottom of the swing that has a pretty shallow taper and it slides up on a plate on the...
I wouldn't trust it. Open the rear door and push down a little on the top of it, you can see how much it'll flex. Also, notice that the latches only pull the door in and don't support it vertically, other than the friction of the gasket. So bouncing down the trail the hinges will still be...
@blare, keep an eye on the front of your tent with that much overhang. That's how mine is and it started sagging in the front(older CVT tent). I braced the factory rack together and added a runner out to the front. I used angle iron so it would also double as a drawer for my folding table.
Blare, I've got my 3 tires without wheels I pulled off if you go with option 1.
I would go with a combo that matched your LJ bolt circle and tire height, just to have redundancy while off road.
Smittybilt scout trailer is supposed to fit 37s with the fenders in their factory location, could easily move them up if needed. There's a lot of clearance around my 35s.
Another solution I've seen done is to use bondo to cover the bolts and then paint over it. You can make it look welded on without the hassle of welding and then grinding off if you ever have to pull it.
I'm pretty sure that's what it is. On the inside the floor sags some between 1" wide runners on probably about 18" centers. I'm at least the 3rd owner so I have no clue how old it is.
They recommend not to raise it or lower it with the tent attached. However, it is possible if they are attached to the tent good and straight. I dislike that they are two individual bars and are not connected to increase rigidity. The front of my tent, CVT Mt. Rainier, was starting to sag. I...
Looks great! I'm still waiting on my awning, I ordered a 270 from ARQ4wd and they sent me a 5' instead of the 6.5'. The new one is supposed to be shipping this week.
