Don't underestimate the value of lightweight materials.

Clearances are no different between 20 and 22.5" rims, 20" have more rubber.

If you use 5200 the cap will not come off without damage, 4200 is a better option. Since you are using the caulking as a waterproofing and not depending on it as an adhesive, butyl tape or caulking may be better.
