Looking for opinions on AEV Prospector XL

So, being a Toyota guy, can't help on the TRX vs PXL, but can give you some feedback on the Ovrlnd weight issues: Just weighed my now completed and fully, but fairly lightly built rig last week on the way back from a trip and was a little surprised at how heavy it was. That's largely my fault...

    Refilling 1lb tanks at home

https://flameking.com/1-lb-recall-notice/ Keep this in mind, esp. buying off ebay, etc. They’re hard to find — been looking at them for awhile. Wonder if the recall affected the supply, or willingness to carry these (along with the supply chain issues lately)?

Soft Shackle Receiver Adapter, SSRA or 'SaRAh' Device

Very helpful, Thanks. BTW, really like that Tauler Jack. Considering it.

Soft Shackle Receiver Adapter, SSRA or 'SaRAh' Device

Very nice! Totally beautiful and trick piece of kit. Not trying to be a jerk, but I honestly want to know: why is this better/necessary when all you have to do is insert the soft shackle loop into the receiver and then insert a standard steel hitch pin? That’s what I’ve always done …

How Would You Spec It? Ovrlnd Camper

+ 1 on this! I’ll be real interested if you figure this out. Ive been looking at friction hinges, but with the large gap our doors have, I’m not finding any large enough.

I considered and researched Lizard skin. Lots of good reviews, including a piece on the Expo website, about its effectiveness. Didn't do it, largely due to the hassle over protecting the seal of the roof and the bedrug, which I already had in.

    Shore Power Battery Chargers

Well, FWIW, my ARB 50 L fridge is 10 years old. Hasn’t ever missed a beat. I turn it on when I’m gonna use it and I turn it off when I’m at home between trips when I’m not using it. I really think you probably shorten the life of the fridge by running it constantly. That said, I have run mine...

    Rattle can truck bed coating

Project Farm on YouTube did a really in-depth review of bedliner sprays. That might be helpful for you.

Sleeping Bag & Pad Recommendations for Big Guys?

I have the same pad and also find it just a tad narrow, and I am “only“ 6‘3“. But it works for me and I don’t have a better recommendation on the pad. As far as the sleeping bag goes, I really hate being all the way in a sleeping bag, so I keep mine open like a quilt upside down over me. I find...

I didn‘t use Polyiso, so mine was a bit lighter, but used 3m VHB 5952 due to it’s high heat rating vs the Phoenix sun. A year later nothing has budged. I guarantee it will hold the polyiso as long as you do at least the minimal prep.

    Shore Power Battery Chargers

BTW — are you talking about on the road or at home? I’ve seen some folks say they run their fridges all the time even when not traveling, which I don’t understand If you mean at home, between trips just turn it off, of course.

    Shore Power Battery Chargers

I dont permanently mount the charger as I usually dont need it on the road (my 100ah Battleborn charges from the alternator via DCDC charger and I have portable solar if needed and I rarely camp where there’s shorepower). You could if you want. I use a custom profile when I do charge with it...

    Shore Power Battery Chargers

The Noco goes through my camper wall near the ARB and allows me to run the fridge overnight pre-trip with the camper locked The charger is excellent. Can custom build charging profiles if you need. Has good profiles built in for all battery types. Can run at 5 or 15 amps. I particularly like...

FWIW I’m 6’2” and have the 10” cabover. I like the extra height a lot. I can sit up straight in bed and standing I can stretch with my arms up w/ my elbows bent at 90°. We can also leave everything (2 thick Thermarests folded over in thirds placed on either side, two sleeping bags, multiple...

Barndoors definitely make getting in and out easier, but at night we would pull the bed out and read for a while with the tailgate up and the doors closed and then get out one last time to pee. it’s a total PITA to open the doors and drop the tailgate, or climb over — sketchy back for me and my...

I‘m a fan of the hatches. Have two flip ups. I access my battery thru one (largely to plug in portable solar—trying to avoid anything on the roof). Have my Maxxtrax mounted vertically to the other side on the cab bulkhead and I can reach in, unbolt them and pull out through the window. I also...

Looking for a mount for maxx traxx

15 series 8020 will take a 5/16 IIRC carriage bolt slid in from an open end. Easy to drill through and mount to your bracket. I did this for my Maxtraxx on hard tonneau cover. As a bonus Yakima round bar mounts will fit through the Maxtraxx handle-holes. The carriage bolts fit the mounts and...
