Looking for a flatbed cabover shell with cargo access

Talk to Jay at Ovrlnd campers. They build awesome, rugged aluminum shells that you can customize. I’m pretty sure he’ll do a flatbed. If you dont already have a flatbed, might consider the regular shell with barn doors. the space is cavernous on my 6.5’ bed DC Tundra. They’re great to deal...

    12v portable jump starter issues?

There’s also these non-battery super capacitors. Maybe not as finicky as LiOn battery. https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/autowit-supercap-2-jump-starter.221222/ No direct personal experience, but my nephew has one that he's used multiple times with good success on his failing...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

Sounds like a good plan. Ours certainly evolved as we used it. We added a Wave 3 heater, but with insulation and down bags have never used it, though haven’t been in much colder than high 30s so far. Enjoy!

Lets see your mobile on-board house/aux battery set-up's

Here’s mine. I’m very happy with it. Works flawlessly. I’d do it again for the portability/ease of removal. That aside, I would not use the National Luna Power Pack for a one vehicle or permanent install. The linked write up doesnt include that I also wired two Anderson plugs in a ”Y” at the...

Great go anywhere and stay there set up! I really like the new lift panels Jays using. Curious to see how you build it out. What are your plans, or are you gonna wait and use it for a while?

    AUS Water Jerry Cans

You can buy replacement caps for scepters. IMO replacing a leaky cap solve the problem. You can also use some potable water safe silicone plumbers grease on the o ring. Typically works. Scepters are thick enough you can drill them and thread in a threaded brass or stainless faucet

    Gaia ROUTE without map download?

I dont believe so, but why? That would make me nuts! You can try it by turning off WiFi and cell data then clearing your base map to see if you can see the route. Routes, tracks, waypoints are independent of maps so should work. BTW, Gaia has a feature that lets you download maps to cover a...

    What's your dream sleep system?

Something like this, but better quality and design. — removable pad cinch cords — two layers of quilting that zip together on one side. Inner layer for summer good to an honest 45°. Top layer that when flipped over and zipped good to an honest 20°. — better neck and shoulder baffle...

Aggressive all terrain or less aggressive all mud terrain?

Goodyear Duratracs. Very aggressive for an AT, lighter, pretty quiet on highway, but a little noisier past 10-15k miles. Great off road tire if you’re driving far to the dirt. I loved mine on a Tacoma.

Great thermal set up for those activities. Used to do a lot of backcountry cross country and it ALWAYS seem to be in incredibly cold weather (=<10°), but never camping for it.

    Lets talk shovels

So, a year and a half later, they emailed me that this shovel was in stock and I got one. Very nicely made, stout and works well in either regular shovel position or pick/trenching tool position (at least in my backyard trial). As @jdlobb pointed out its sorta pretty. They dropped the red collar...

OVRLND CAMPERS ONLY : Post your OVRLND Camper build here or a link to your build thread to inspire others!

I thought I would update this post on the rear curtain since we had a chance to use it for a week in Nevada recently. It worked great! We used it almost every night. The temps were pleasant during the day, and at night cooled off quickly with morning lows into the high 30s to low 40s. The...

So we took a week trip in the NV desert and thought I should get a mount for some extra fuel. With a 38 gallon fuel tank turns out I didnt really need it for this trip, but glad I worked up the mount anyway for longer future trips. I added two footman’s loops on the side of the vertical 8020...

Super Strong fabric adhesive suggestions please....

Nope! Not on fabric joined to vinyl/plastic and not with that weight and usage given what looks like maybe 2 sq inches. I would trust it as the open/close aux handle, which is how I thought you would be using it. If you had metal to metal contact then yes. Maybe if you attach the handle...

Super Strong fabric adhesive suggestions please....

I have been using 5952 3M VHB with good results. It’s very high temperature resistant, which is my main need, but I found it sticks incredibly well to many things as long as I’m doing the correct prep and using the primer. After some research I found out I could even use it on UHMW and I’ve used...

Looking for opinions on AEV Prospector XL

Have you considered Timbrens or Sumo springs that replace and extend your bump stops with a helper spring? Used Timbrens on my Tacoma, which was under GVWR, but had under-spec’d Deavers that sagged a bit when I was loaded for trips (no camper). They helped a lot. No idea if they make ‘em to fit...

Super Strong fabric adhesive suggestions please....

+1 on VHB. Clean the fabric and mating surface really well with alcohol, let it dry. Rough the non fabric surface lightly with some 80 grit sandpaper, clean again with alcohol. Use a couple of coats of 3M's VHB primer on both surfaces. Apply tape to the fabric, use a roller or other strong...

Looking for opinions on AEV Prospector XL

Well, I probably shouldn't have termed it that way. My front axle WR is 4,000Lbs front and 4,150 rear. My loaded weight front was 3829 front and 3860 rear. I agree, it's not meaningful, and in fact not good if a vehicle is overweight one axle but under the combined and you convince yourself...
