just a reminder from way back 157 pages and a lot of amazing photos of our beautiful planet,
Random Scenic Shots....
This thread is dedicated to all the random scenic shots of the outback that you all take so well! (can we handle one more random thead?...we shall see!)
No trucks. Just the...
i get 9-10 mpg combined with a mix of 50/50 on and off road driving. we also do a 3000+ mile trip every summer in fact heading across the north border this year. i will spend just under $2800 in fuel if the average price is $7 per gallon. we looked into the alternative. first leave the rig we...
i still run 6 toyos on 19.5s. never have an issue. can air them down to 65 for a nice off road ride, 130 on the hyw for millage. can get them in lots of places and can run one single on the rear should the day get real bad. this set up works fine for me in the CAL.NAV desert where i do most of...
auto chains are useless off road. three rail chains, for duallys, are a pain in the ass to install . singles are best. one block of wood under the inside tire gets the outside up in the air. makes putting them on and off real fast. billybob has a good point but lets be honest. snow covered deep...
thats how are snow cat is set up. works great and has quick connects for the power so real fast to move. now this vehicle i have self recovered many times!
If its only for self recovery the rear might be the best place. not to often you need to pull your self farther into trouble. i guess for the " i almost made it" spots.
i have a 12k winch and buckstop bumper on my 01 F250. installed it in 01. lots of money. looks real cool. NEVER used it once for my self. only to rescue "friends" and strangers. not really worth the money looking back. it's like owning a small trailer and a dolly, everybody's your friend when...
For me the choice of tire/rim options that can handle my weight are limited. unless i want to move into super singles with 40+" tires. i am already 146" tall and the thought of 5+ more inches of tire and lift kit is not appealing. not to mention the body mods to clear the big tires. let face the...
always keep 60%+ on the ball in any load configuration. if you deviate from this the trailer will duck walk behind you and at speed can flip the whole rig. not pretty. happens all the time with u-haul trailers.
i run toyo 19.5" at 50 psi in the dirt all the time. duels in the back have not been an issue to date. i like having 3 spares knowing i can run a single in the rear if need be. 19.5 is a very popular tire size so finding one in a pinch would not be to hard. i have not rolled a bead to date. i...
