I bought a little 12V fan that powers from an internal battery or from USB. It uses so little power I leave it running all night when it's seriously hot/humid and it has made all the difference here in west africa. I wish I had optioned the upstairs USB ports, then it would be extremely easy to...
Hi All,
I camped on the shored of Lake Tengrela in Burkina Faso.
THIS is the kind of campsite I dreamed of long before this trip began!
Massive baobab trees, hippos grunting near the Jeep and friendly locals!

Best campsite of the...
Remember, you can sell your stock hard top for $1250 ( I got that in San Diego for mine in about 2 days ), so you can take that off the price of the J30.
Also a solid rack + Decent RTT will set you back close to 3k, and in my opinion is not nearly as good as the J30.
It's a chunk of money for...
Oh wow, that's awesome! Another one.
I don't have exact measurements of the roll bar, we basically just pushed it out into the corners of the stock hard top - you can see pics here

You are going to love all the interior space, please post...
Nothing too scientific. It was burning oil, so I wanted something thicker.
Choices are severely limited here on the West Coast, so I got whatever I could!
It's fully synthetic, doesn't leak a drop and now burns so little I don't think I have seen it go down at all in the ~4k miles since the...
For anyone that has not seen the Expedition Portal front page, here is my 200 night review of the J30.
It's my full-time home for 2 years around Africa, so I plan to do about 500 more nights in it :)...
Give John a call and ask!
I think they have been asked multiple times, but I gather they don't want to be involved with modifying the roll bar.. that's a whole can of worms.
I agree on a "Road Chose Me" edition... hmm.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too - rotational = OK, up/down = NOT.
I'll keep an eye on it, and I'm thinking about replacing all the joints down in South Afirca when I do a bunch of maintenance at the half way mark.

Hey All,
The trip and Jeep are going along great. Lots of updates on maintenance, upgrades and repairs coming very, very soon.
Crawling under the Jeep the other day I noticed the passenger end of the Drag link has a tiny bit of up/down play.
I can feel it when someone jerks the wheel back and...
Hi All,
I'm checking out the sights of Southern Burkina Faso which are stunning!
I can't believe nobody talks about these kinds of places!
Here are "Les Pics De Sindou" - natural sandstone formations. I had the whole place to myself so I wandered around for the morning:
Lots more pics...
It's on a tripod most of the time, or else I ask someone on the side of the road to point it at the Jeep while I drive past.
It's fun explaining that in French.

My AEV carrier holds the weight of the full Titan tank, plus 34" spare, high lift, shovel and maxtrax with ease.
Well over 10k kms on nasty roads and it is absolutely rock, rock solid.

Hi All,
After a quick stop back in Mali to pickup one last visa before the big trek South, I have driven into African country number nine, Burkina Faso !

Well,
Mine's not so much a makeover as a "strip and replace" - but yeah, my interior has been re-done :)

Hey all,
After days of mud and intense sun and humidity, I'm ready for beach time.
Where better than the Ivory Coast... Coast ?
These may just be the best beaches I have ever seen, anywhere in the world.

Hi all,
I have made my way South in Ivory Coast, and the roads deteriorated very, very quickly.
10 hours of driving for 40 miles. Trucks stuck for a week.
This is the West Africa I dreamed about !

I just paid the biggest bribe of my life.
I'm really not happy about it, though I was rattled and I'm happy to still be in possession of the Jeep.
