CARB Cans suck...or: Good Hand Siphon Pumps?

FYI the springs and check mechanism is pretty easily removed from the CARB nozzles - then they just stick in the open position, and pour like any other gas can :) How's that for an ExPo mod?

Test driving a bunch of pistola's...

Have you shot all of the guns you're considering? How it feels and shoots in your hands is really all that counts. I made the mistake of buying a gun I had never shot once (Glock 23) and won't make the same mistake again.

Test driving a bunch of pistola's...

You can get a used Springfield Armory 1911 in that price range, which is hard to beat (for my taste, at least). I just had 3 dot sights, a beavertail grip safety and commander hammer added to my SA GI model, and couldn't be happier with it for a relatively cheap gun.

Lock N Roll bolt thread failure

It looks to me like the nut might not have been torqued properly (or the torque spec is inadequate), allowing the parts to shift and contact the threads of the bolt. The threaded portion of the bolt becomes a bearing surface, and gets destroyed. Bolts are not meant to be pivots, the torque...

    4 door Long bed???

The sport version gets you a rear limited slip differential, street tuned shocks, and 17" wheels. I think the TRD off road package is much more useful, you get a electronic rear locker and more off road friendly (and cheaper) 16" wheels. On second though, I am not sure the TRD off road package...

How many miles is to many on Subaru's

:) Good answer. I took my 03 WRX wagon to 115k miles, and only sold it to get out from under the payment I had left on it. I think a subaru, properly maintained, will do 200k miles as well as a honda or toyota.

How many miles is to many on Subaru's

If I were looking for a cheap older high mileage car I would not get something with AWD. Simply more to maintain/replace as it ages. Do you really need 2 4wd vehicles in Long Beach?

    after market brake rotors?

Any grey iron rotor is going to rust when left to sit, but it should just be surface rust and should be removed from the pad swept area after a few applications of the brake when driving. A lot of manufacturers have optional coatings. In my opinion E-coat is the most effective. Gold zinc and...

    after market brake rotors?

How quickly are you going through pads? It sounds to me like you're using a pad/rotor combination that's not operating in its designed temperature range. Properly bedded, and operating in its designed temp range, the stopping force of a pad/rotor combo is actually between pad material...

    outside access toolbox storage needed

I can't remember who makes them, but there's a company that makes service bodies that look like the stock bed. I've only ever seen them for american trucks though. Not sure how much they extend into the bed space.

    Discount Tire ******!!!...Over

Hate to tell you this, but that's how engineering works, if we do our jobs the failure of the part should only occur on paper, we rarely see parts tested to destruction. I don't wait until an airplane goes down before evaluating the strength of my parts. I make damn sure its NOT going to fail...

    Discount Tire ******!!!...Over

If it were me, i'd do the rotation myself and take the rims and tires to DTC off the truck for balancing/mounting :) Think of it as an excuse to buy a nice floor jack! http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/duty_calls.png

    Discount Tire ******!!!...Over

Sorry but that isn't accurate. I agree that the forces in a correctly installed wheel adapter isn't going to cycle from compression to tension and back (alternating stress). The wheel adapter is subjected to fluctuating stress, meaning a stress fluctuating around a mean value. Think about how a...

    Discount Tire ******!!!...Over

I don't think wheels have nearly the same stress concentration points that a wheel adapter does, but yes, I do think any Al wheel will have a fatigue limit. Edit: I guess this thread has gotten off topic somewhat. Think about what you would do if you ran an independent shop and someone came in...
