These kinds of posts are what brought me here in the first place.
Thom and I checked out Carrizo Plains at the beginning of the month, and there are a lot more trails I'd like to explore up there. Let me know if you don't mind some company next time you're headed up.
I really like the layout and content of your mag, even though I don't drive a Jeep ... but there's almost nothing I hate more online than a website that resizes my window. Just saying ...
I'll get the measurement off my T100 ExtraCab when I get home tonight for you. FYI the wheelbase is the same as the standard cab.
Edit: My tape measure says 75" inside length of the bed.
I've kicked around the same idea, my thought was to have the cover on the inside of the structure, suspended by straps. That way you don't have to deal with the problem of sealing areas where the bars pass through the shell.
I still think it would make a neat truck-tent that's easily removable.

I'm tempted to pick it up, but really should spend the money on other priorities right now.

Here in SoCal, the horse groups have a huge amount of power, and seem dead set of not letting anyone (including hikers) enjoy what should be open access, multi-use trails. Unfortunately they are all rich, well connected people, and have a lot of power around here, so more often than not they get...
Seems like a F250 would fit your bill? Or are you looking for a smaller truck?
If you compromise and accept an automatic there are a lot of choices for you, ie Tacoma or Frontier, or any of the full size trucks. I think I'd rather have a truck with an auto than try to retrofit a longer bed and...
I ran mine temporarily off a cigarette lighter adapter, and it worked fine. I do plan to wire it through the fuse panel eventually, just needed a quick fix to get going.
You could put a couple of yakima cross bars up there, with a portion of threaded rod and a wingnut to secure the bridging ladders to the rack. The ladders would make a flat 'floor' that you could tie other gear to, if needed, and would be as easy as a wingnut to remove. You'd leave the cross...
