Canvas stretched over the top?
3/16 or 1/4” Baltic birch plywood? Baltic is so much stronger, and last time I bought it, affordable. Post COVID... who knows. Might need a second mortgage.
Hoses have solved my problems. Can air up anywhere and don’t need special valves.
With the Amazon extensions, read reviews carefully and spend enough to get decent ones. I had the valve fail on a straight extension, and it couldn’t be repaired... also. Bought cheap and got what I paid for.
I’ve found this style of extension to work very well.
=Good
Stay away from ones like these.
I had 3-4 inner dually flats when the valve stem got torn half off because of the extra strain on them. = very bad
Rear discs are on the wish list here also. However, I already poured a bunch of money into the rear drums... and now that they’re working right, they work very well. They’ll be cheap to keep working as the cylinders are dirt cheap... so I’ll run them for quite a while. Water crossings are the...
Figure out how many cubic feet there is, and crunch some numbers to determine how frequently the air is exchanged. 800 cfm keeps my ambulance box cool. 400 cfm would likely exchange the air in that area in 1/2 the time.
I’ve very few complaints with the chrome bumper and respect your perspective. The major limitation of chrome bumper is you can’t push anything with it, no tow points, and zero protection for lights/grill/hood.
Some days I have careless drivers cut us off, pull out in front of us too close, and...
The price is down to $100... so I’ll likely let it sit for a bit. If it’s still around I’ll offer them something... and walk away if I can’t get it for next to nothing.
I’m not sure if it would provide protection, or simply do more damage if it was hit. It’s hard to say without putting hands on it if it’s merely for looks or sturdy enough to take some abuse.
Then there’s the question of if I need another project... or more crap around. To which the answer is...
Looks great David.
Any thoughts on wether a guard like this on would fit the body lines of an older ‘97 model and work with a stock bumper?
I realize the mounts would need to be reinvented. I’m not sure if I’d want to cut off the upper cross tube. The other consideration would be that my...
So far so good.
Yesterday it was overcast with grey cloud, by 9:30 am...
Today it’s clearer... 80% by 9:15 am.
I’m not sure if the batteries have fully recovered, but there seems to be more than enough capacity in them to handle the fridge 24/7 without anything more than the 120 W panel.
Fingers crossed... I’m being cautiously optimistic. I left the rig running off only battery last night. At dusk last night the house batteries were at 85%. When I remembered to check this morning they’d been charged back up to 100%.
Before I refilled the water, I’d seen as low as 47%. When I...
For anyone running flooded lead acid batteries, take a few minutes and check your water levels.
Now that I’ve got the solar charging as it should, I found my battery capacity was well below the rated capacity. I’ve never needed to add water to any batteries in the past. However, I left them...
The door stops on my Crestline were originally mounted with Aluminum 1/4-20 Allen head bolts. After 20 years they almost all snapped when I was tidying up. I replaced them with high grade SS.
For mountings holes... glob of silicon in the hole, bolt it together. Should be layer of silicone through the hole and a layer sandwiched between the mounts and the box. Should be sealed air & water tight.
I’ve never been happy with the solar output of the used 100 W panel on my rig. When I found a used 120 W kyocera solar panel for $50, I decided to switch the current one out.
What a difference! It went from the max ever of 2.35 amps to...
7:30 am on an overcast day
10:30 am still overcast...
I’d be more concerned in the panel being removed to fit the 20 lb tank, and there being no protection from impact in a collision. I’ve got a 5 lb tank because they’re smaller in diameter. To do it over, I’d buy the taller 11 lb tank... which I’d not seen before buying the 5er.
I hear his point. With the inner panel back on the door, the batteries should be sealed off from the propane tank. If all that’s below is batteries, I can’t see there being any source of spark from there. If there was spark in the battery coming there could be a problem with the hydrogen...
