Yeah the detail and clarity of the moutains is much more pronounced with the 17-55 lens. I'm guessing these were all shot with a tripod so the IS shouldn't make a big difference (unless it was windy?)
Nice Brad! I'm am always amazed by how much better images are on my Mac than my PC at work.
How about some image info like lens, f, shutter, etc.?
Do you get any alpen light on those hills at sunset or day break? That would be a cool shot against the water.
Thanks Safado, great advice and your right I do need to relax a bit and just get a good lens for now and worry about later-later.
The 18-200 is one I was thinking about as it looks to be a good walk around lens. Yeah it has it's limits but that's to be expected from any lens with that amount of...
I looking at what is on the market that will work on both format the FX targeted lenses appear to be mostly pro glass which indicates to me that the pro market is the target for the FX for now-a few years down the road that may all change.
As for 70-200 f2.8 being sharp there is also the old...
Thanks Trevor, that makes more cense now. I can see that camera gods are just pushing me to buy an FX kit- and the no interest for a year offer I got from Amazon today is not helping the temptation at all.
It's not just Lucas-the problems occured when the amount of and complexity of the electronics increased quickly in the 70's. My wife's 00 Benz has had it's share of electrical bugs. Now on my 64 IIa I haven't had any electrical problems (oops I think I just jinxed myself).
I am kind of puzzled...
HA! That's pure gold when she's a teen and needs to be humbled a bit- trust me on that, my daughter is 12 and it is SOOO much fun bringing little things that this up to her just to remind her that old Dad has a few aces up his sleeve:ylsmoke:
Excuse the question but I'm not familiar with the FX format details other than it is essentially 35mm in size and is the hot tend in DSLR's
My question is related to lenses and compatabilty. It was mentioned in another thread that DX lenses will not work on FX bodies due to the cropping aspect...
As a father of a daughter that remembers this age my first thought when you said it was a bad time of the day was that it was past nap time and she was grumpy, which made her expression in that picture perfect.
I wanted to clarify that I wasn't being critical of Helen, I also use google alert for some of my products so that is where the comment came from.
I don't think (and I hope) any one took it that way but I wanted to be sure.
Welcome Helen!:victory:
Oh well, I guess it doesn't always work out.
If you ever find yourself in Manhattan head over to 34th and 9th (just a couple block from Macy's) make a point to go to B&H. The place takes up a block and is THE toy store for camera fans but be warned, you could go broke quickly.
Thanks, I was wondering if B&H was lower than normal due to there size but I guess they are a big part of what the going rate is. This tells me the local shop I went to is way above the market which is a shame as it is the only shop in town. I guess B&H and the other large on-line sources will...
Brad,
Did you ask them if they would match or just let it go as the difference was so large? I was looking at a Tamron 16-85f2.8 (I think) that was used but in excellent shape. It is only DX but maybe it would be OK. I got to the price part and it was $550 but he would go $500. That is the same...
Good point about the reviews. It seems that people can be really picky when they hide behind their keyboard.
I went to a local shop today, told them I wanted fast glass and something that would work on both FX and DX-unless the DX only version was too good a deal to pass up (ie I wouldn't cry...
