    Used gear market

I am wondering about the valuation of used gear and if there is a "standard" way of setting price. In another hobby of mine, guitars, the usual used value is 45-50% of the retail value for a used acoustic on very good-excellent condition. This mostly relates to Martin guitars but also applies...

    Self Portraits?

Man, the clarity of the "without you" shot is impressive. Even on my crappy laptop screen it looks crisp. I am so jealous of you guys outwest with the canvas you have to work with. Even when I make it out to the mountains here the haze that gave the Blue Ridge their name often just makes...

    Self Portraits?

Not bad Brad, just a touch blurry along your arm. What was the conditions of each shot? I've not tried HDR myself but I've seen it done very well by a photog I know here in town, pretty amazing stuff.

Good source for light seal kits

OK, I was able to find two sources, US Photo and Northwest Camera, both list a kit for the Canonette 28, any one have any experiance with these kits/sources?

Good source for light seal kits

My old Cannon compact RF needs light seals, the originals crumbled away. I was thinking I could handle this job myself but I'm having trouble finding the supplies. Maybe I'm using the wrong search words or just the wrong sites. Anyone know a good source for this?

    Lens Overload!! Too many choices

Thanks HB-yeah $500 isn't pocket money when I'm having a tough time justifying $1200 for the 28-70 to my cheap and critical self. Do you think the 28-70 would be a bad walk around lens due to it's weight? Excuse the dumb question but is this full frame digital still fairly new? I was looking...

    Lens Overload!! Too many choices

He sure seems to be a polarizing person from what I saw when I googled him. I like that if I stick with a lens that will work both full frame and DX it brings my choices down to three and two have a fixed f2.8 and the other is variable starting at f2.8-4. B&H has a used 28-70 f2.8 in a 9+...

    Lens Overload!! Too many choices

I'm not sure if the kind of pitiful version of a local shop does that here NW-it's a great idea and I'll check with them. Trevor, do you know if there is any issues with the full frame lenses working on the DX based bodies? I admit I not up on this subject but I suspect my D70s is a DX based body.

    Lens Overload!! Too many choices

No worries Pat, I knew you were kidding-dang internet doesn't allow me to laugh and slap you on the back in a jovial way. It's the Ford/Chevy thing for cameras and all in good fun. If we were sitting around a camp fire I would probably throw out that Paul Simon didn't sing about his Cannon and...

    Lens Overload!! Too many choices

Gee..thanks Trevor:coffeedrink: and Pat...darkside??? that would mean that Cannon is the brightside???:snorkel: I'm just kidding, that's a fun debate to have and one I used to have with our staff photog before he moved to a bigger job. I used to think of it as Cannon came out with the newest...

    Lens Overload!! Too many choices

As I've mentioned in the Lens thread I need an all round lens for my D70s. I've read a lot of reviews and I think I've got it down to 2-3. At the top of the list is the 17-55 f2.8 but the $$ is an issue. The 16-85 f3.5-5.6 is about 1/2 the cost and I like the range as it works very well with my...

    Pelican 1650 Case

If you (buyer or seller) call Pelican about the handle they will send you another with the hardware and installation instructions. I use Pelicans for work and had a wheel go out on a larger model (1690 I think)-they just sent everything I needed, great customer service.

    Waugoshance Point: short photo essay

Very nice Joash! I like the moody feel the fog brought and the sunrise/sunset (not sure which) shots have some great color. This is the Michigan I remember and miss-not the urban decay of Detroit which is all most people see and/or know of the state.

    Toyota FJ45

I would think you could work with an export/locater company in oz and find one for much less. It might not be as shiny but you could find one with a diesel. There was an article in 4WD Toyota Owner magazine that detailed sourcing a troopy like this. IIRC they had less than 10K in the whole deal...

    Rangefinder info and advice please

Although a digital option is nice I'm leaning to film for this. I've already got a DSLR and a couple digi point and shoots. I am also leaning toward saving up and buying a used Leica even though this will take longer. I don't know if it's just fan speak but what I've read from the links here and...
