Going to have to disagree on that... but at the end of the day, what matters most is if the owner is happy. I've had plenty of annoying things on the JK... so far, nothing on the 4Runner. Of course, experiences vary quite a bit.
I suspect you can find stuff to like and dislike about each. I was completely surprised by the Jeep's ergonomics - everything seems within reach by just lifting a finger.
Quality, though, is definitely different. The three things I can't stand about the 4Runner are the brake dive, Entune...
Wow... Apples and oranges...
We have a 13 JKUR and a 15 4Runner SR5 Premium.
I'm honestly incredibly impressed with the ergonomics of the Jeep, but the biuld quality of the 4Runner is heads and tails above the JKUR. I can't comment on anything JL.
how many of you are doing corrected math on the mileage? Just curious.
4.88's or 5.29's and 285/75-16 is a great combo. I have 4.88's in both my 3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen doublecab and wouldn't hesitate to do 5.29's...
Cab hasn't changed since 05... The Tundra has a normal (what I call) bar stool seating. I suspect the 08+ Sequoia is the same. FJ/FZJ's always felt higher to me. But my experience is that every non-Tundra/Sequoia** I've owned sits low-and back.
** - I think the 1st gen Tundra's and Sequoias...
Toyota has had lower seating positions than most domestic trucks since the 70's. It's a love it or hate it situation. I prefer it, some days. Other days, I get in the F350 and feel way more comfortable.
If the demand was high, the investment would follow. The demand for manuals is miniscule compared to automatics, at least in big trucks. Same for the PW... if every RAM buyer wanted a PW, RAM would make more... it's simple economics...
No room for Cummins' intercooler + winch. At least that was the case on the previous gen.
3500s are such a small amount of sales vs. 2500's, and the leaf sprung vs. coil sprung rear, that it doesn't make sense.
I'd be cautious of salt air on older models. I bought an 85 4Runner that spent it's life in Hawaii and CA (this was~2000 timeframe)... was rusting from the drip rails down. Otherwise, was very clean.
