    Intro/Gecko build thread

Good for you. I've picked up trash on trails for years from trails. Always came home with a lot of others trash in the back of my old CJs. Cleaned up at shooting sites because of what has been left. I came home once with 3 large trash bags and a large trash can from one trip. Sort of filled up...

    Paradise 2 Pavement

Nice write up. Welcome to Colorado, you are in a fun part of the state. An old saying around here is that we used to have guard rails but the tourists took them all out.

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

A lot of it depends on if you know how to drive in snow. I can do it in 12 inches of snow in a 2WD Volvo. My father could get around in 14 inches of snow in his '62 2wd suburban.

East to West in the Mojave Desert - Easter 2016

Nice. In a way it reminds me of traveling with my parents. Mom... Windmills were called twirleys, twirleys and oil pumps were called upper downers. It took me a few years to figure out how smart she actually was.

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

You're not to to Utah yet? There used to be some pools along the river above Carbondale and the turn to Marble. They sort of got demolished as truck drivers ran off of the road looking at the naked women. Somebody mentioned the pool at South Canyon. Just west of Glenwood. south, lots of places...

    Roam About with "Big Hank"

The Yammers were fun but I felt too old to really ride bikes anymore, especially if you rode in the crazed way I used to do. The built '98 Harley is still sitting in my garage waiting for the guy to come pick it up. I never touched a friends 1148 cc Suzuki full face bike. His stepson referred to...

    Roam About with "Big Hank"

About your bike. I sold both of my Xt 550s to a neighbors son for about half of what they were worth. About a month ago he said he had lowsided on a bike and of course I asked how he was. You could near drop one of them Yamahas off of of a high rise building before you could hurt them.

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

Good to see somebody that actually knows how to drive a Jeep. I can barely stand the mall crawling posers that throw several thousands at their Jeep and it never sees anything like mud, dirt or snow. I'm sure I will piss somebody off but I think I will also be the guy that will be up there in my...

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

When you drive through town, find a bookshop and pick up about anything from Edward Abby. Years ago it was sort of required reading for the park service employees. Monkey Wrench is fun but Desert solitare is more informative.

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

Seriously, I've lived here 60 years and I still find new things. You might need a really big trailer. The only times I ever felt close to spiritual connections was sitting on a rock watching a sunrise or sunset, If you are out at sunrise, remember your coffee.

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

I haven't even started into the brew bubs and trails around Moab. How big of a trailer can you tow?

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

Hard to say about the weather. I drove my 2WD Volvo on the La Sal road in November one year. Everybody else had their trucks In 4X4. With a bit more advanced planning, you could just parked in my yard and plugged in for power. Seeing what you are driving could change what I tell you about the...

    Roam About with "Big Hank"

It took me a minute but I saw how my post may have made you wonder. Back when I had to do stratographic columns for geology. (drafting) I had a couple of beers so I could letter them and they could be read. I hope you understood the directions to the steak taco stand. Crap, now I'm getting...

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

When I drive through Denver I just grin and bear it. So I lived there 19 years? Can't stand to go there anymore. I don't know what you are driving but there is the La Sal loop road East of Moab and heading back is the road to paradox valley from La Sal. You could spend a month just around Moab...

    Roam About with "Big Hank"

Lets see, birds taking things out of your hands. Dogs will grab anything they can get and some people have a relationship with animals. I'm happy I didn't bring up how a friend accused me of stealing his Border Collies affections. Sorry if you feel that I diverted your thread. Perhaps a shot or...

Is there anything to do in Colorado?

I've lived here my entire life and I avoid Denver whenever possible. Actually, lots of things around here depending on your schedule and interests. I imagine there are all the normal things in Denver like museums but if you feel like it, head south at the Morrison exit off of I 70 and check out...

    Roam About with "Big Hank"

Birds will snatch about anything off of a table if they think they can get away with it. So will dogs. I can deal without birds but dogs seem to like me. Some call me the dog whisperer. One neighbor has a Red Heeler that follows me home. Other neighbors have four dogs that stand it the gate and...
