Your trip turned into an adventure, things went wrong. Part of the fun. My Volvos have served me well over the decades in the back country. I did have to come home once with the exhaust system strapped to my roof rack on the 245.
I enjoyed your report.
I hope you are having a good trip.
You said you were heading to Craig, Craig CO? They claim to be the Elk hunting capitol in the US. Whatever, I don't hunt. Just watch out for critters on the road. Steamboat can be pretty fun as well. Good fishing in all of that area.
Part of being a responsible off roader is knowing when to stop. There's no point in beating your self and your Jeep up to be able to say you did that trail. I've been running this 3B for over 30 years and have never even had a flat tire on a trail. You may think I don't use it. I'm the person...
Back when I had my Harley I had a siphon hose in one saddlebag to help people that had smaller tanks on their bikes. Real bikers don't care about what the other person is riding. We were just happy that they were out there riding. The three bike's are all gone but I still have that siphon hose...
I'm not even a cat person. There has only been a few I liked.
I came home for lunch and found my favorite cat laying dead next to my house. Not much you can do at that point. Dig a hole and bury her. Say some kind words and do and couple shots of Rum. Yes, tears were involved.
Is my Man Card...
I believe I understand. We spent two extra days in Las Vegas to get a fuel pump fixed in the car we drove out there in. We told them it was the fuel pump. Three days later they came back with "Oh, it's the fuel pump". Bang head on the table. The owner was about to sell them the car and buy...
I hope you are having fun in Las Vegas. Fremont street is much more fun than the strip. Our best adventure there was trying to find the most expensive Bud Light beer on the strip. At that time the winner was $7.50 for a bottle of beer. There was a couple of places that sold bottles of Michelob...
A good story. I understand. A loss of your pet can hurt as much as loosing a family member. I believe it was P. G. Wodehouse that said that "Man is the only animal that will get a pet and knows fully well that he is going to out live them". I paraphrased that a bit. I like most dogs and miss...
That's a pretty good mod.
I can carry about 31 gallons on my 3B. More if I store some of the extra GI cans in the back, another 25 gallons? Fuel is good to have.
The only time I got any noise from mine is when the fan belt is loose and then the AC kicks on. I have tended to avoid that whole area of I 70 in the heat of a summer day. The beastie runs better in cooler temps. Never a peep out of it in the winter.
If you are going to get a winch you might want to reinforce the rear area a bit. I about pulled the rear bumper and cross member off of my 3B with a 8,000 winch. I quit when I figured those sounds from back there weren't right.
You are doing a nice job.
I get the dog and thunder bit. I used to have to go down to the basement and dig my black lab out from under the bed even if the storm was well gone.
The thing about the dog hair on my shirt is there were dogs of many colors so I couldn't have made a proper choice any way.
The neighbors had a...
It is sounding like you are having a wonderful trip and figuring things out as you go. That's part of the fun. I can recall all of the trips I did I did with my parents. I have a Zebra toy velcroed to the dash board in my motor home. It nods to me as I drive. I didn't plan it that way but it...
Thanks for the post. I sort of know that area and half of my relations came from Iowa.
Nice pup. I had to go over and scratch the four at my neighbors yesterday. I wore the wrong color shirt.
