    Eastern Arizona - July 2010

Great story! I have visited about half the places you mention - I need to get to the other half!

What is the difference between Icom's C-Tone and R-Tone?

Thanks for you replies so far. I have got it to work in that I can talk to people on the Eastern Arizona Amateur Radio Society's repeaters, but I still am trying to figure out what all the other settings are for. A rather snooty guy I asked on the repeater told me to go back and study for my...

What is the difference between Icom's C-Tone and R-Tone?

The manual on my Icon T-90A is not very illuminating about the difference. This is all it says:

    looking for a diagram...

I bought my paper parts manual from British Pacific. At the time they were pretty nearly the cheapest. You can buy all the IIA manuals on CD for $25. They are near the bottom of this page: http://www.britishpacific.com/BPSite/seriesLandRover/SeriesLandRover.html James

    looking for a diagram...

It is in the SIIA parts manual. I have found that is a useful book to have for precisely that reason.

In search of the perfect can opener.

I bought a mini-Swing-Away at the Wal-mart in Flagstaff about 15 years ago for my camping gear box. It still works perfectly. Have a full sized one in the kitchen which is even older and still opening cans. Th P-38s are great for backpacking, but they are a heck of a lot more tedious. Ditto...

Micheal Slade is responsible for our dutch oven addiction

I don't have too many pics of that trip because it was pre-digital-camera. I have so many memories I wish I had recorded photographically, but I was a lot more careful with how much film I used than I am with pixels. It has been 13 years, but I am still upset with the lab for losing the roll...

    Continuous build thread or mini-builds?

Consolidated is better for when you are keeping up with Expo every day. Separate posts with good titles is better for when you are searching for info a year or two later. You do what ever you think is best, there is no right or wrong way, just different ways. I will happily read either one...

    Bad Parenting

To the contrary. You need to bring the kids. They are not going to remember their best weekend playing video games.

    Bad Parenting

My sister-in-law's son just learned to walk, and is still in that stage when he will fall frequently on perfectly flat ground. We went camping with them and she couldn't understand why we kept pulling him away when he walked past the campfire.

    Zodi choices... HELP

We had that silly pump, it failed on our second use. Made noise, just didn't pump unless you had the shower head 2 inches above the reservoir. Zodi's warranty covered everything except the pump - they told us we had to buy a new one. We were very upset with them. I have not found an...

    Custom Rubber Flooring

What shape do the sheets come in? Squares or rectangles? We got a lot of the noise under control, so the loudest noises are wind noise and the high pitched gear whine from the overdrive. I think the gear whine can be taken care of by sealing up the tool tray under the center seat better.

    Hi-lift on rear bumper

I have mine mounted on the rear and it gets filthy there. I carry rags, brake cleaner, and an aerosol lubricant which I use right before I use it. If it is on the front and getting too filthy, you are following too close :sombrero:

    Custom Rubber Flooring

So, this is timely for us. We just finished painting the front interior of the Dormobile with Second Skin's Spectrum, and we are debating how we want to finish it off. We are debating floormats or Herculiner, but you have presented us with another option. Thanks.

    Custom Rubber Flooring

Actually, I prefer the mini-build threads - it is easier to zero in on the info I need when I search for it a year or two later.

    Mysterious engine plug??

What vehicle is it from? Sometimes there are connectors lying loose that are for different engine options or some option that you don't have.

    Propane lantern issues

Thanks for the idea. It perhaps was starving itself of oxygen since we were at 9000 feet. We never had a problem with it at 7000 feet. I can't remember if we used it when we camped there last year. I will try turning it down next time. The vent holes are all clear.

    Propane lantern issues

Our propane lantern has been giving us problems recently. After it runs for 10 minutes, the light diminishes by about half, and it starts making a loud fluttering noise. If we turn it off and let it cool off, it runs fine again for another 10 minutes. We have tried new mantles and new propane...
