TBT - I suppose I should post up some build info about my trailer! Here is a teaser...oh how far it has come (and gone) since this video! Almost 2 years in and it has over 15k miles. I will post up a trip report for the remainder of UT in a bit.
These windows have the sliding part on the inside track so they are designed to be towards the back. If installed in the opposite direction the wind would have free access to the gap seal between the two panes.
So I did a closer inspection and I was wrong these windows have no seam. Only my front window that is not a slider has a seam in the frame. I did notice a small 1/16" gap in one window and some smaller gaps elsewhere in the gasket. Sealed it up with some Airstream sealant. I will give it...
I have a cheap 5kw diesel heater in my rig and it was mentioned that the glow plug is in use to heat up and shut down the unit. This process takes about 3-5 minutes on startup and shut down with 9-11Amp draw on my battery during that time. Not sure if that information is helpful in this...

Stumbled upon this while bored at work. This sounds pretty awesome if it can be achieved, even if it is just 1/4 as effective as sunlight.
FWIW I went with the Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus tires and couldn't be happier. They are quite and fuel efficient and they are everything I need when off pavement so far. I am not sure how they would hold up over time under the mountain driving conditions you mention since I am a flatlander in...
These windows were drivers side and passenger side and the way they were labeled put the seam at the bottom of the window.
Yep I have the horizontal window and the sliding piece is towards the rear as you stated for that exact purpose. I did seal up my weeps at the top but the result is the...
Building my first trailer has been an adventure filled with excitements and heartbreaks and quite a few annoyances. I have been working hard on knocking out all of the annoyances on the list and I am down to the last few. The one I need some help on is my sliding windows tend to leak a bit...
My buddy does the wood stove, about 3 to 4 pieces of wood minded to be added throughout the night.
I’m now running a diesel heater in my rig. So awesome.
I finally got to do some legitimate field testing in Utah. I ran my heater all night with the fridge in the galley and was able to recover every bit of power during a severely overcast and rainy day with just solar. Additionally I wanted to see if I could run all that + my snowboard boot...
I used Gaia to make my entire route. There are several links that show you the major attractions and parks in that forest...there are a lot! If you have a lady companion, there is a wine trail which goes from winery to winery and some, if not most are on dirt roads. I picked a bunch of the...
Quick trip update.
I did a long 1300 mile tour of southern Illinois with a quick dip into Missouri for the first night of boondocking. I wanted to visit and explore Shawnee national forest but from a dirt road perspective. I was able to find camp in a huge field at the end of a dirt road that...
Wow, its been a good while since I updated this thread! Looks like last I posted was that I bought a fridge! Well yes, that led to quite a few additional expenses and upgrades.
MPPT Solar Charger was installed permanently in the rear galley on the other side from the battery area. The box...
In UT we will be out in the wide open with maybe a power pole for shade, not sure what to expect but I dont think shade will be an issue. The rack I made for my solar panels has legs that I can elevate them about 2’ on one end for better angle.
