I suppose a short extension would put more of the exhaust farther out and away but I didnt really notice much exhaust smell in and around the trailer when it was running. One thing to be aware of is that not every unit will work with every controller as the connectors are sometimes wired...
I highly recommend this setup to anyone! Having spent 2 nights in dry warm comfort put the biggest smile on my inner child’s face this weekend. I can now easily camp 4 seasons and I’m going to push the limits to see where/when this thing cannot be used...hurricane/tornado I will avoid haha...
Here are some better pics of the final install. I think this turned out pretty well considering none of this was ever planned from the beginning. Having this experience will also make it nice for future builds. I need to do some buttoning up of the fuel lines underneath with some corrugated...
Quick update...I am happy (and proud) to announce I have crossed the condensation hurdle with a bonus of cozy cabin type of heat. The heater is amazing. I actually had to run it a bit higher than its lowest setting as last night got cold, maybe a 3rd of the way up from lowest. I stayed warm...
New heater arrived later than I want it but 2 hours later I was on the road to camp. Im all set up and enjoying some fire in the 20* temps. The "2kw" turned out to be about a half inch longer than the 5kw so I don't think its a smaller unit...the insides looked the same. However the housing is...
I have a muffler that is going on the end of the pipe, good tip on the tiny holes I will see if that will apply in my case. As for fuel pump placement, I am keeping it in the rear galley so that my tick tick tick of the fuel pump isnt bothering camp mates and I also do not want to splice the...
I had the clear plastic hose from a fridge install at my house so I have that ready for the heater but the pump is about a foot from the heater fuel intake. I may swap it to the softer hose if I don’t like the way it is laying. I was able to get a lot of prep work completed for tomorrow’s...
Yes an exercise in patience cant hurt since its a local campout anyway. Im getting as much done without the heater unit as I can.
@luthj you mentioned that I should use rigid clear plastic hose from pump to heater. Is there a reason? The all in one had the clear rubber hose from pump to...
Well leave it to premium ground shipping to take 10 business days to not deliver a package coming to IL from California...I don't think I am getting the heater today so I either wait and hope it arrives tomorrow, then try to get it installed in a hurry before leaving for camp....or I install the...
Found a suitable box, wider than I want but I can make it work. It will need some paint and some drilling to mount it underneath but this will suffice. Over the next month or so I will fabricate a nicer box for the trek to UT but this will do for POC. This will also allow me to mount the tank...
Well I’m an idiot...turns out the original tank that came inside of the all in one unit is the perfect size for under the trailer, however I don’t have any good way to get the cap through the bottom of the tongue box due to the awkward placement of the spare tire under there. It’s probably for...
I found a guy selling a whole bunch of small engine gas tanks near me, going tonight to check to see if one will fit my setup. Hoping this solution pans out because that would result in a very clean install in the galley.
Well that's more wrenches! The line from the tank to the pump may be 8' long and the pump would sit about 1' above the top of the tank if I install it outside under the tongue box. The fuel pump would be in the same compartment as the heater so very close, about 2' of line from pump to heater...
Man this really threw a wrench in my gears but for the better. I think I will mount the fuel tank under my tongue box and drill a hole for the fill cap in the bottom of the box. That way I can fill it relatively easy when I have most of the stuff out of the box and it will also be relatively...
Spare tire is under my tongue box, its a real pain in the ass to get to, probably way more than it should be for an emergency situation. I like the lawnmower tank idea but somehow mounted outside...so much work to do before Friday!! haha I work best under pressure anyway.
Well you may be onto something, but where would I mount the damn tank, I dont want it on the sides, underneath would work but how do you fill it? I would need a different tank I think.
JB Weld Plastic Bonder may be a better choice for what I am doing. This thing is probably going to end up being more mess than I ever wanted to introduce into this rig but I’m full send committed at this point...7 days in UT in January will require the heat.
I have 2 brass fittings on there that I might as well epoxy also to make sure they are completely sealed. Would JB Weld Original do the job for that and the plastic elbow to plastic cap? I can go pick that up tomorrow locally, G Flex I would have to order.
