    HAM in Canada

Ham radios are definitely getting much more common with wheelers here in Vancouver. In our Land Cruiser club there are about 10 hams now, and we're still trying to get more guys to make the jump. Once you try a REAL radio on a wheeling trip you'll want to set your cb on fire and convince all...

Post favorite pics of your rig and trailer

Love your trailer. There are a couple of us here that are planning on "borrowing" pretty liberally from your fender design... Really nice work.

    Going to get this tomorrow

I haven't used it yet. Actually, I haven't even set it up yet. It's big though - it's packed size insures it'll only come along when I'm towing my little military trailer, it'd eat up way too much space in my BJ74. Definitely a base camp only item, it'd be too much hassle to set up/break down...

    Going to get this tomorrow

Wow, I picked up one for $75 that had been used a couple of times, I thought I had done pretty well! Where do you see the clearance price? I have a bud that might want his own.

    Hello all and a question

I would jump at the HJ61. The 12H-T 6 cyl turbo diesel is a really nice motor. It has enough power to get out of it's own way  Lots of space in the wagon, and at least some of the JDMs we got here in Canada came with factory cable lockers, full floaters, and air conditioning! The 61...

    Urethra, I've found it!: A BJ42

A good break in. :sombrero: Seriously, until the big influx of JDM Cruisers here, 160,000 miles (260,000 kms) would have been considered relatively "low miles". My BJ70 has 370,000 kms (230,000) and I would drive it across the country tomorrow (ok, maybe day after tomorrow - probably be good...

Got the base station up and running.

Hey Gary, the 857 has a voltage readout on the faceplate, would that be sufficient?

Dual band antenna mounting on roof rack.

Or if you already have the base/whip you can just buy the spring and cut the length of the spring off the whip. I have the NMO 2/70 with springs on my 70 and my 74 and no trouble with brush etc.

Passed the test, waiting on my call sign

    Field Bag? Ideas?

It's so disappointing to see the direction Filson is taking. At least so far the old style Field Bag is available as well as that thing with the fastex buckles: http://www.filson.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2092394&cp=2065001.2075128 To the OP (I see this is a pretty old thread...), the...

    Why skinny tires

Yes, doing the math I come up with only 33.06"... same as a 255/85R16.... unless I've missed something.

    Why skinny tires

What tires? There's not a lot of choices in the 34x10.5 size, which is too bad...
