    Colorado: Bison Peak

If it's been there since 1894, I'm sure several people have tried to mess with it, but it still seems to be there. As a geologist years ago they were handy so you knew were on the right page of your map, so to say. And lately, I've calibrated GPS units from them.

    Another Anti-Adventure Road Trip

Some of your obsession about bolts and nuts, boarders on, well, an obsession. I have several cans and boxes of stuff from things I've taken apart and generally know what they are for. A friend had a bucket full of nuts, bolts and washers. he called it his hell bucket. If I can't find the stuff...

To the West Coast and back

I used to be a librarian in school. We had none of the wifi stuff back then but I do get a different feeling when I go to a good book store or library. I see you are still getting pictures of people taking pictures. I have several taken of me while I took a picture of them.

    My Journey

I've been around dogs for over 50 years. They know when a trip is in the plans and they are ready to go. They get a bit bummed if they figure out that you are taking them to the vet. My neighbors have several dogs. Open a car or truck door and one will be in there ready to go. Good luck with...

    Broke Down

A few years ago my neighbor was driving home from Moab with his Jeep hooked on and a large camper on his recently pucrhased F350 Dually Powerstroke 4X4. They could tell something wasn't right in the truck so they unhooked the Jeep and his son followed on the way to Denver. He got to town, Huge...

    Fuso fuel sender

I replaced the stock 33 gallon tank with a 50 gal plastic tank from Northern Tool and Equipment I used the old sender. The tank is plastic, easy to drill new holes in it... I did have to do some bending on the float arm to get something close to an accurate reading but the sender was calibrated...

    Another Anti-Adventure Road Trip

A friend is a former Sheriffs deputy. He did a few illegal things on his bikes to avoid being run over. As said, keep your eyes on everything around you. A friend was a State Patrol Officer and had to take the bike class. He hated the Harleys they had to ride. He loved being in an airplane doing...

    Never Know Unless You Go!

Both of my teacher neighbors are retired now and both got called back to serve another semester at the high school in Kersey. Actually, Petra went back twice. She taught ESL, German. French and Spanish. Mike was in charge of the Special Ed program there. The replacement teachers hired were not...

    Another Anti-Adventure Road Trip

I'm enjoying this thread. On my Yamaha I had my fanny pack strapped around my handlebars. Handy for the possible essentials you might need on the road. Be aware, things in there will get wet in the rain. Needed tools and parts were in the stock tool kit mounted to the rear fender. On the...

I had 6 straps holding my bike on. It couldn't have gone anywhere regardless of what position I was in. My rack is about 19" off the ground on my Mitso Fuso. Talk to your local Harley dealer. They ship bikes with some nice ratchet straps to hold the bikes in their container. They are supposed...

    Never Know Unless You Go!

We used to always go to Moab in June, it's when the school teachers got out. If you think the students are ready to escape, the teachers are just as ready to get out of there. I quit doing the rope things in 1992 when a friend did a too rapid descent from Half Dome. Enjoy your time, wherever you...

    Another Anti-Adventure Road Trip

Two thoughts, I used to load my XT 550 on the back of my motor home by sort of rocking the seat off of my hip and then putting the rear tire in place, then just picking up the front wheel and setting it in the carrier and strapping it into place. I do have a ramp but the way the carrier is...

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

Just an aside. Friends went to Africa in about 1969, while their father was working with USAID. They shipped their Wagoneer over and shipped it back when they returned. They never had a problem with it.

"Bruce" the 2014 Jeep JKUR Build Thread

Lucky people. My friend worked at JPL and couldn't afford a house in Santa Monica. His parents had a house on 5 acres with an orchard in Walnut Creek, $23,000 in 1953. Things have certainly changed out there. I know a few people from Walnut Creek. They all live in ID or CO now. Dennis used to...

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

A few years ago we were out camping at Crow Creek near Brigsdale. On the way back to camp after shooting we stoped by the local marble orchard. Two of the people were teachers in Kersey and some of the surnames were familiar. Friends have a cabin up Gamble or Gramble Gulch south of Rollinsville...
