    Anviljk's JKUR Adventure Thread

I had a nice Old Grumpy Guy reply typed out but it went away. Water, get a couple 5 gal containers with an appropriate valve. Don't need a stinking pump. Table, don't you have a hood and fenders? Stove, of course. Cooler, Use block ice if you can get it and wrap a sleeping bag around the cooler...

    Expedition Overland - 2015 Season

I'm sure you figured how it works on your way through the Baja. My neighbors and their kids were stopped on their way South at a military checkpoint. They guys tried to talk to Mike, he just pointed to his wife. She probably speaks a better Spanish than they did even if she was born in Germany...

    Another Anti-Adventure Road Trip

Crap, you are going to be In my backyard. Maybe we can do a meetup. If I can get my new drivers license, somehow it has been lost for 30 days now... I still have my old one but either the state or post office screwed up somewhere so I'm not a legal driver...A friend is a computer guru for the...

Off road trip Corsica and Sardinia

It looks like a good trip. I just wish my language skills were up to understand all of what was said.

    Grand Staircase Loop

Thanks for the pictures, they remind my of why I have been going out there for over 30 years. Still a few places to explore...

    My Journey

I have two visitors in my yard now and both vehicles (a trailer and a camper) have a dog with them. We managed to talk about dogs for several hours. Several dog scratches were involved.

To the West Coast and back

Interesting, the first thing is that I am a fan of Black Labs, The first breed of dog I ever owned. A friend is an artist and retired art teacher, camped out in my yard right now with his wife and Border Collie. He has developed many glazes for pottery and has done about everything artsy. Every...

JK Tailgate Tables - The lowdown

This would be wonderful If I could afford a JK or JKUR. I'm disabled so I'm used the hood and fenders or tailgate on an old MB or my now owned CJ3B as a cooking area. Grease splatters, who cares? Wash it when you get home. (OK, I know, a MB didn't have a tailgate.) Go ahead and flame me if you...

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

OK, go for the most heavy duty hitch you can find. Dynamic weight versus static weights can be a big change but it should have been figured into the rating if they did it right. I almost pulled the rear of my Jeep off with an 8,000 lb winch, and my Mitsu Fuso 4X4 motor home is rated at 11,000 lb...

Currently traveling around the world in a Piper Malibu Mirage aircraft

An old friend would be right there with you. He flew jets in the Korea era, Instruments, bear in the air while he was with the state patrol, commercial pilot and an instructor at the local airport. His life revolved around any plane.

    Fuso fuel sender

Yes, I have a sender for a cylindricial tank mounted on a rectangular tank. The readings are a bit strange at first but you get used to them. They drop slowly then drop like a stone. then slow again when below 1/3 of a tank.

    Lumpskie's 1989 Grand Wagoneer Build

I've installed a few, repaired a few and built a few. Mostly it goes to cost the of them and how you are going to use them. Tow a tent trailer or be used as an anchor point for some HD winching? Neighbors son is on his third hitch. He hauls hay for a neighbor farmer with his F350 4X4 diesel...

My Jeep FC170 (Forward Control) "Patina Rod" project

I always thought about dropping a 6BT in my Mitso Fuso FG. at least I could avoid holding up traffic on a pass. I end up running about the same speed as the semis so I suppose it could be worse.

2014 JK Salt City Build Out

Congratulations. Several of my friends have sold off their older Jeeps or LCs and gone to Rubicons. They still let me putt along in my 3B on a trail.

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Usually I just make a mess and trim it off later. A lot of old books say to put a light coat of chassis grease on each side of the gasket and put it together. At least then you can get it apart without destroying a gasket.

Laurel Lakes- Mammoth CA Roll Over

Years ago we would see the remains of cars off of the side of mountain passes. Particulary Berthoud and Cameron passes. They are all gone now. I suppose it isn't PC to leave them there now.

    Avoiding thunderstorms

Good report and pictures. I've been heading to UT for over 35 years but have never done that area. Pictures of rocks are good, I was trained as a geologist. The weather is part of the adventure. We go to a few places in the Needles District for spring trips or for Thanksgiving. Sometimes in...

American Southwest Trip Report - June 2015

X2 on helping the dog. I think yesterday, Jerryukonmontana posted about getting a dog out of someones car and taking it to a vet. Also a Pit bull and it looked like it had been a fighting dog. My brother and some friends were living in State Bridge CO. Somebody dumped off a Pit Bull and It...

What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Good you showed it on the spare, I sort of wondered how well it would work on a rotating wheel.

1973 Wagoneer - Full Size Camping Goodness

A friend had I believe was a 1976 Nova fast back with a mildly worked 350. Bob bought my brothers 2A that had a pretty much race 327 (actually it was a 332 by then). He regrets not swapping the motors but after him and his sisters got done with it, they went through 7 clutches.
