May I be the first (in this thread, anyway) to congratulate you on one sweet rig.
What were you driving before and what are your thoughts on the differences?
At the threat of a major hijack, here's our Apstole Island itinerary from roughly 15 years ago. We found out that a low water level can expose even more routes to adjoining caves.
We put in at Meyer's Beach on the east side of Bayfield Penninsula. Paddled the shoreline in and out of the sea...
While I did not press the situation, I asked if GTRV would sell the parts for a DIY installation and they said no. I can only assume there is too much liability in that equation.
They did my installation and I am more than satisified with it.
They are just southeast of Vancouver BC, with the...
I have the Pathfinder AT's that are shown in the your link.
Mine were purchsed at Discount Tire. Supplied by Kelly Springfield which is now owned by BFG blah blah blah, who the heck knows.
Knock on wood, I've got 13k on my 255/70 16's and am very impressed with them.
I bought them to excel in...
Wow, I've been drinking tons of coffee and still haven't completed a bumper design that swings a spare tire to the drivers side, and Jerry cans and bikes to the passenger side.
Now I see that I simply need to do a bumper with tire and cans, then a receiver mounted swing away like yours.
I...
Great deal, Mec. You gotta lv it when a plan comes together. Luv the open air also.
What type of "boats" do you refer too?
Joaquin; seen your Jeep around Expo and dig it.
Holy moly, ice bergs! Way to go, KEENO! You're not at SweetWater any more, thats for sure.
Seems like the perfect trip for the Loon. 4-5 weeks, WOW. VK has a huge following on paddling.net. By the time you get this, you'll have returned from your trip. (any paddling trip you return from was a...
Redfish is a manufacturer.
I used to work for Great River Outfitters (prior to the sale and move from Michigan) so of course I've still got a couple of Romanys and an Explorer (and a VCP ALeut Sea II tandem, Greg Barton's personal Black Marlin that he used in the Finlandia Clean Water...
We are reassessing our car insurance now that the van build has progressed.
Progressive, our current insurer, can insure it at a stated value with the pop top , lift, and 4x4 conversion installed, but said if we add plumbing and cooking capabilities it will need to be insured as an RV. We're...
He ended up portaging 62 miles on that trip. Yeeow!
He paddled all those miles and didn't even begin paddling until he was 40 yrs old.
If its a single seater propelled by a single bladed paddle, its a C1.
Is that a Redfish in the background?
Congrats on making a plan come together. Looks like it works great.
Were you too ramped up to sleep that first night?
My first night camping in my 4x4 project van I couldn't sleep. It started pouring rain and I was snug as a bug in a rug, giggling like a giddy school girl.
Exactly right. I just went on a two day 130 miler with a group I didn't know (ahh, the wonders of the interwebs) and we didn't really gel as a group until the challenges became tougher and people started getting stuck.
Nice pics. Luv that area and good looking rig.
What trail? I'm assuming Fortune Creek was still way too deep and steep.
Hey, did that green Taco pull out a Ford Escape stuck in the snow Friday nite around Denny Creek as we were all trying to find a route around the traffic jamb? I was in...
Excellent work, J. Very nice.
2 things:
1. Now that you've built one and see the result, do you think one can be built similarly but with an added receiver welded on (to the side opposite the spare tire) that would hold a receiver mounted bike tray for two bikes? I need my mountain bikes to...
Great thread.
Now i need to hijack it for a second.
Sloan, is your car pictured in this thread? http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=kehq67epar9nhf854e2c0pq286&topic=6.0
(I could have sworn I saw one with a Land Cruiser in the background, but its 150 pages long!) If so...
