So... We need to talk about your weight.

Does the AWD Transit have a lockable center diff? Isn’t that a prerequisite for a locker? This convo has strayed towards full sizes and vans, so this may not be relevant, but the OP originally saddled mid-sized trucks with ~2200lb payload. I think, for the US at least, that number’s closer to...

    Practical barbecue grill solutions?

I have one very similar to this that I do not use (not because it’s bad, it just doesn’t fit for us). Free to a good home in the Salt Lake City area. The box has been expertly duct taped for travel use ;).

I decided to build my own Pop Top camper

Were those wires led through the existing drain hole in the bed? Fan looks good. I’m a big fan of adhesives only, if you can get away with it in a given application.

Goose Gear vs Front Runner vs DIY

I’ve been exploring the prospect of having a local fabricator cut PVC sheet into a baseplate similar to Goose Gear. Cost will be 1/3, no wood, and a couple pounds lighter. I haven’t fully worked out the drawers/furniture, but it will likely be precut 8020 and more PVC sheet. I’m not sure how the...

Dual battery systems, with auto shutoff?

This one? Good recommendation above too.

Anyone still using a 1st Gen SPOT Satellite Messenger?

If I need SAR more than twice in my life, I’m going to find a new hobby! :p I do appreciate having a Spot with me when traveling, especially with the family along and when there are no other vehicles.

Anyone still using a 1st Gen SPOT Satellite Messenger?

$50 for a Gen 1 doesn’t sound like that great of a deal when a Gen 4 is $100 (at least it is on Spot’s website right now). Free sounds like a better deal... @OllieChristopher, for Spots, isn’t the user still on the hook for SAR costs?

Switched, dimmable 12V Perimeter LED lights on roofrack

Most of the offerings here have their own switch/dimmer. No affiliation.

    Air Hose and Inflator

I also added the same between my ARB twin and Flexzilla hose. Given the trouble, I’d say that ARB hose looks pretty good.

    Air Hose and Inflator

Mind the heat if you’re pulling directly off of the compressor. The ARB hose is expensive because it can take it. Most regular air hoses are meant to take air from a tank and are not heat rated. Ask me how I know... ;)

DIY Composite Camper T100 Expedition Vehicle Build

I thought I picked up TotalBoat a while back as it was the budget option, but I went back and checked and it was $125! I don’t know what I was thinking... carry on.

    Setting up Flippac camper

That sounds like every Flippac support rod arrangement that I’ve ever seen (mostly in pictures), so I would say you’re being overly cautious... but, that geometry is what I have not seen before. Your idea of a roof cross bar may fix that issue though - you might be onto something there...

DIY Composite Camper T100 Expedition Vehicle Build

You may save a few bucks with TotalBoat epoxy, if it’s slow enough for you. I know Raka is used when it’s hot or when you need a super slow cure time though...

    Setting up Flippac camper

I just did this as well, so I’m no expert. I set the lid so it was a straight line with the rear/bottom half of the shell. I’m pretty sure you need the support rods to hold the lid both down and up. Do you have the support rods and hardware? If not, they are reproducible, but the hood...

    Epic Locals - Humanity Matters

I had a very similar thing happen to me on a dirt road in Baja. Saved by a fellow traveler that had way more hub/bearing experience (and advice) than me. I generally stop for anyone in the wilderness on the side of the road just to make sure they’re okay. I’ve only been able to provide tire...
