Christian,
My only regret is that I did not hear about this trip before you started. Having been born in New Brunswick and explored the Maritimes, I could have pointed you to a few must visit attractions such as the "big potato" or "large lobster". I'm sure if you sent a message via pigeon...
Yep, that's full noise for reasonably long period. Found one local company who can order in the Safari Power front mounted intercooler kits. They are called ProDyno. I know there are others. If I recall correctly, price was $1200 AUD for the kit.
Have you tried to contact Safari Power...
Really enjoying this build. It's clean and well though out.
My only suggestion would be to keep a close eye on the mounting of that water can. I've got a few good stories of what constant corrugations will do to bits bolted to the vehicle. Our trip up to Cape York QLD Australia in July...
1HD-FT and 1HD-FTE EGT Information
Yes they are building the kits but have limited distributors even here in Australia. I'll see if I can find a few for you. I did get the EGT information from a Mechanical Engineer who designed and tested the intercooler systems for safari. Just found some...
Paul,
Great to hear you are enjoying the move to the new 4Runner. I'm green with envy when I see your E7 posts and the trip you were able to experience. The E7 crew are doing some amazing journeys. Looking forward for the future work on the new vehicle.
Cheers,
Pierre
Good to hear that the turbo is putting a rather large smile on your face.
I'm currently in Australia punting around in a 1HD-FTE HDJ100R with a few performance mods. The 1HD-FT and 1HD-FTE engines respond very well to boost, fuel and intercooling. The Aussies love to play with these engines...
Thanks for posting some updates. Great photos as usual and good to hear no team members became an evening entrée or main! One day, perhaps over a camp fire, I'd like to hear more of your thoughts of the 70 series as world travel vehicles. They are heavy but extremely well built machines.
I can only dream of one day watching the sun set over the African horizon only to wake up to zebras, elephants and other unique wildlife...
Well done and thanks for sharing!
Kurt, no worries. I had encountered this issue on my 80 but these photos are from a 78 & 79 cruiser respectively. So it's a emerging issue for this new generation of cruisers. Keep in mind that there have only been two reported cases that I know of here in Oz.
