    FlipPac "re-sizing"

Has anyone looked into (or actually done) re-sizing the lower shell of a FP to fit a slightly different bed size. I like my T100 but really hanker for a newer modern truck. Either a Tacoma or ?? As far as I know the T100 shell would fit a 1st gen Tundra and maybe a Dakota but not much else. To...

    Flippac torsion bar

I don't think shot-peening (or any surface hardening methods) are suitable for torsion bars, because of the stress distribution which is directly proportional to the radius. In a round cross sectionbeam in bending the stress is proportional to the radius cubed ( to the 3rd power). So adding...

Quick 3.4V6 oil filler cap question

Thanks for the part # 4eigner, and I'll check some of those other sources of oil "misting" as well. -dman93

    Flippac build-out

Arclight - I think this will be my next mod! I could have definitely used some shade this past weekend in Red Rock Canyon and Alabama Hills. I'm a little unclear on the use of rivnuts. I assume the upper mounting screws are "blind" so the rivnut for those is inside the steel tube. So did you...

Quick 3.4V6 oil filler cap question

After a year of owning it, I noticed that my T100 seems to weep quite a bit of oil around the filler cap. More than I'm used to with other vehicles. There's a groove that might be for an O-ring molded into the cap ... should it have one? Mine has no O-ring or washer. Thanks in advance - dman93

    Flippac torsion bar

Just FYI, I haven't got replies from any of the potential torsion bar suppliers I contacted. I did get an interesting reply from Ursa Minor, sympathizing with our plight but unable to recommend a supplier. I did take a 3 day trip this past weekend with my wife and daughter (cut short by...

    Flippac build-out

Does the 1.5" dimension come down to the centerline of the steel tube, so there is sufficient clearance away from the walls of the tube for rivets or rivnuts to form over? Also, do you know where the wires for the driver's side lights run? -dman

    Flip Pac for SALE!!

I think the late-model Tacoma beds are quite a bit narrower than the T100.

    Flippac torsion bar

I had asked AT for some help in the past and they were, not unhelpful, but non-committal. I understand they no longer re-sell Flip-Pacs. But your post prompted me to contact Ursa Minor, who actually designed and make the J180 as far as I can tell. We'll see what they say. The Ursa Minor website...

    Flippac torsion bar

I have sent them a request, and also contacted a custom spring/swaybar supplier in Michigan, and one in Ontario, CA. -dman93

    Flippac torsion bar

Thanks tacoluv. I've got a bit of free time ... let me try some possible leads. If I got a new t-bar, I'd need a handle as well. Does anyone know if they're more readily available from FRP, or is there anyone who is happy with their t-bar delete who would be interested in selling their handle...

    Flippac torsion bar

tacoluv, thanks for doing what I have wanted to do but never got off my butt. If I can be so bold as to offer a word of advice, please make sure that Schroeder's understands that this torsion bar is twisted 90 degrees from its neutral position in its standard position (essentially 90 degrees...

    Flippac torsion bar

I calculated the torque and posted details a while back but don't have it handy. I couldn't see a way to fit in any gear reduction mechanism since space is tight, but while I can crunch the numbers, I'm not the most clever with soving that kind of problem. I am still thinking a weaker(lower...

Has anyone mounted a CVT awning to a Flippac?

    Thanks for the explanation.

Has anyone mounted a CVT awning to a Flippac?

Maybe I'm missing something, but with these rear awnings, how does one open the lift gate to get in or out of the FP? -dman93

2015/2016 New 3rd gen Tacoma Debut in Detriot

One advantage of this"refresh" vs. all-new is that presumably the bed size is the same, so at least your FP should fit. I finding this new Taco very appealing but my T100/gen1 Tundra Flippac won't fit. -dman93

    Thule Rack + FlipPac

I would just sandwich the carpet behind the backer plate. I think that would be plenty strong since teh carpet is very thin. -dman93

T100 OWNERS- Need your help please!

yotatech and toyotanation T100 forums are pretty useful and well-populated with T owners. Mine is a '97 so can't help with caliper specifics. Also a quick Google search will show up several online Toyota dealers that have very detailed online parts catalogs with pictures and part numbers...

    Thule Rack + FlipPac

True, but adding weight to the existing design won't affect torsion bar reliability. Those of us who have taken the torsion bar thickness (diameter) to zero, by removing it, now have a very reliable unit. However even without a rack we now have a very heavy lid :>)
