    95 Montero SR questions

Welcome, keep in mind that with no record of maintenance, you're looking at $1500 for engine related parts and maybe $1000 for brake and suspension/steering parts to get the truck baselined. Prepare to spend another $1000 for labor if you don't do the work yourself. Use those figures to your...

    Time for valve seats?

As outdoor mentioned, its not the seats, but the valves seals that are failing which is allowing oil into the cylinders. This is a known and common issue with this engine. There are a few write ups on Expo on how to replace valve seals using the "rope method" with the heads in place. In...

Aisin Water Pump / Timing Belt Kit - Am I losing my mind?

Exactly this. Early production 2000 was Gen 2.5, late 2000 production was Gen 3, it was a transition year. Always order parts for your 2000 Gen 2.5 as a model year 1998 or 1999 to make sure the parts you receive are Gen 2.5.

Mitsubishi Montero Gen 2.5 O2 Sensor Replacement

Did the threads get destroyed? If they did, helicoil should work. You might want to try to chase the threads first to see if they can be salvaged.

All US Spec Montero's are California Spec? O2 Sensor Question

Not all Gen 2.5 Monteros are California spec. Cali spec cars have 4 o2 sensors each with different part numbers. 2 are upstream, 2 are downstream. You'll have to look on rockauto for the downstream part #s though. The Gen 2.5 parts thread sticky has the left and right upstream part numbers.

    Swapping a '99 Gen 2.5 Rear Locker into a '95 LS Gen 2

97-2000 have 4.27 gearing, better would be to find a locker from a 95/96 SR that has 4.63 gearing to match your front diff. Unless you're trying to maximize highway mileage, most would consider it a downgrade to go from the 4.63 gears you currently have to 4.27s from a Gen 2.5.

    2.5 snorkle

I installed the same snorkel here ---> link Hopefully the pictures will give you some ideas. I made a template by taping paper onto the fender facing section of the snorkel and tracing the outline and marking the stud locations. It ended up working out fine. Be careful when fitting the snorkel...

It's got the gauge pod on the dash, which means it has the off road package. Lockers were optional on off road package equipped sports 1997-99. You can see the corner of the orange locker sticker on the driver's side center console by the footwell, another give away.

There is a gasket there with a hard sealant IIRC. You might have to stick a razor blade between the TC housing and lever assembly to get it to start to separate.

Oh ok, so you don't have to do the spark plugs, good. No you don't have to do the cam and crank position sensors, it's just cheap insurance to replace them while the front of the engine is opened up. You're also going to need these parts in addition to what you have posted above: MITSUBISHI MD...

    Finaly Got montero

None of the parts you listed would be smart to remove from your list. They are all needed. Referencing my previous post about there being two jobs, top of engine and front of engine, if you can't afford to do both, do the timing belt job first, and the spark plug job later. If the timing belt...

what doi you use for Gen 2.5 Tranny OIL

Gen 2.5 trannys use Dexron in the US, I don't know about other countries. However, Gen 2 and various year Sports use Diamond SP III, and are very particular about it. In the parts guide I added the asterisk so Gen 2, Sport owners and Gen 2.5 owners from other countries would consult their...
