2016 Range Rover TD6 diesel 40,000 mile test

That 3.0 engine has been around since 2010 over here. Making either 245 or 255 bhp depending on age, the 8 speed D4 got the 255 engine. My mate has just had his remapped from the 255 up to 310bhp, which gives some serious extra overtaking grunt and will make towing even more effortless. Strange...

    First mod to an LR4?

Vasily. I got my D3 in 2012, bulbs hadn't been changed since it was made in 2004. Light output was terrible as the bulbs had dimmed over the years. I was down to only seeing the length of 4 white lines on the road. I took the stock bulbs, threw them away and fitted a set of Osram Cool Blue...

    First mod to an LR4?

A good service of the engine, diffs, gearbox and transfer box oils and inspection of the rest of the car. Make sure the car is 100% spot on before you spend cash on mods. Personally, my first changes to a new car are a fresh set of wiper blades and new headlight bulbs. For some unknown...

    Lr4 roof racks

Biggest problem with Prospeed stuff, having a large amount of it on my D3. Is the total lack of any rust protection unless you get the Raptor coating, the powder coating doesn't last and breaks off. Needing it sand blasted and retreated. Sadly, FR is the same. Had to make a warranty claim on...

    Disco 3 (LR3) roll cage

That D3 vs Audi smash is a good comparison. The D3 is a 05 G4 car, The Audi was an A4 from 2009, a newer design model. The Audi was doing 120mph+, the driver was reported to be way over the drink drive limit by 3 or 4 times. They should never have been near a car. The Audi driver was killed...

    Disco 3 (LR3) roll cage

Having seen the state of a D3 after a roll. There is little need for a cage. The body is VERY strong, even with the glass. Glass breaks but the steel structure stays reasonably intact. Unlike a Defender or a Disco 1/2. They don't crumple and crush down.

2006 LR3 traction control engaging around corners

Check tyre pressures. A low pressure can throw it up. Also at 117k, your rear upper control arms will start to be showing wear in the bushes. I would get them checked out and if worn then upgrade to the RRS version as the bushes are a better design. If, that's the issue then, getting new hub...

2005 Disco 3 (LR3) vs new Hilux Revo for overlanding

I'm taking my 2004 Tdv6 Disco 3 to Morocco in October. I have no concern with it making it there and back. It's getting a few age and mileage items changed as it's sitting at just under 160,000 miles but it still drives very well. It has proven ability, plenty of space for 4 people and kit...

The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

RIP old friend. My own silver D3 will have a litre of diesel in memory. Shame about the box, mine is dying but the landy specialist who's swapping it out, takes them out from under. Never seen one have to get the body lifted for it to be changed. Also, a shame about losing the rack and the rest...

    The DiscoDavis Sandglow Thread

200tdi is a tractor of an engine, but it's as basic and rugged as they come. Keep the oil good and it will see miles to make the Millennium Falcon look like a low miler. What's happened to the LR3? Says landy heaven....

    LR3 Sliders info

For the cost, i would recommend them. I've ran them hard, and they have been well used, but they have shown minimal signs of use, just some of the black coating on the underside of the tree sliders has gone. Which i could touch up if i felt the need, but out of sight, out of mind. The tops...

    LR3 Sliders info

Hi Mike. Yes, i still have the sliders on the car. the bolt hole on the passenger side front door never lined up. So i left it. The 6 bolts under the car, lined up and went in, the 4 bolts at the side went in. I've battered the hell out of them, they have been rubbed off rocks, trees...

    LR3 Front bumper options

I have none of the bumpers in question, i have considered one for the future. My biggest issue would be weight. It's a fair bit of extra weight to hang off the front and in front of the wheels. Also, do the bars work with the airbag systems in the car? I know the ARB one does and has been...

A little bit of Pro Speed showed up L322 and LR4 Special items

The products are great. I have the ladder, compressor guard and the sump, centre and diff guards on mine. The fit is excellent and they have been very helpful with me. Prospeed DO now offer either powder coating OR Raptor coating from the factory. I would suggest going for the Raptor finish...

A little bit of Pro Speed showed up L322 and LR4 Special items

For those with the ladders, please be careful with the powder coating. I have a ladder on my D3, removed yesterday as the car is going in for a respray. My ladder was fitted July 2015 and the powder coating has broken down all over the ladder. The bottom and top steps have lost lots of coating...

Thinking of replacing all rubber in rear suspension on LR3

RRS LCA are 2 years and 30k and counting on mine, tight as a drum. Having done the RRS rear uppers, D3 rear lowers, new hub bushes, new arb bushes and new drop links. Trust me, it will make a nice difference to the car. I know mine did.

Thinking of replacing all rubber in rear suspension on LR3

Biggest issue is getting the upper arm bolts out, if they have rusted in place then it makes the job a lot harder. When I did the back on mine. I changed the full lot. RRS rear upper arms have a different bush design and supposed to last longer. Normal LR3 rear lower arms. I did the upper and...

LR3 wont start, 2x in last 12 hrs. Happy New Year... :)

A dying alternator is well known over here to take the battery out with it. When running, mine sits at 14.6v on the IID tool and 12.6v with the engine off. Alternator replaced 2012 by previous owner when I bought it, starter done in 2014 as it died and would just click. Battery done in 2014 as...

    Suspension Fault

Yes. While mine is locked to my D3. I can check, and clear fault codes on any D3/4, RRS, L322,L405 etc. It can check everything from injector flow rates, to the pressure output and temperature of the compressor. I used it on 2 cars last night, both to trace suspension light issues. One is a...

Diesel additives and routines for reliability

A tdi engine is a simple unit. Just make sure that the glow plugs work properly, that it's got the correct coolant and decent oil in it. Maybe hook a decent make battery conditioner on to it to keep the battery healthy. Those engines have travelled the world, been used, abused and neglected...
