That is a nice truck. What is the inside height now? Is there an opening from teh cab to teh back of teh truck now? I would reinforce the bulkhead around the cab before cutting it out.

    Fire Pans, NO MORE RINGS!

If you go around taking down existing fire rings people will just re-build them. I think existing ones are fine and people should be selective/careful when building new ones. In some areas like Anza Borrego you must bring a portable fire pan if you plan on building fires.

    Kitchen box.

That looks good. Are you going to use it in your rig or unload it for use? How are the legs going to be set up? How much do you think it will weigh when fully loaded?

Sleeping in the XJ - 2 people

Take out the back seat (seat back and bottom) and see what length you have. You can fill in the foot well space with gear etc. or cut a pice of plywood and make a shelf to fill in the gap. I have done something similar in my H3 for camping trips. I have room for tools and gear under the...

    Small camera advice needed

I don't like LCD screens in the bright sunlight. I still wanted to have a view finder as well as an LCD screen so I went with a Cannon PowerShot A110IS (4x zoom and 12.1 mega pix). It is small and takes great pictures and if good on hikes or on my belt but I still bring my DSLR camera on long...

Can you sleep in the back of your Taco? Try a 4-person Dome tent (free standing makes it easier to set up). Go to a place like REI where you can set up the tent and check it out Thermo rest pads are great (they make a coupling device to keep the pads from sliding apart. (chaise loung foam...
