Thanks for the nice review
I like my Coleman water heater too.
It is kind of heavy and bulky but great on long trips.
I used a 3 gallon bucket for the water supply and just let the water from the shower wand recirculate in the bucket while washing so I don't have to turn on and off the heater.
I have an Igloo MaxCold 50

and it works great.
You can also add an exterior layer of foam around the cooler for extra insulation.
Has anyone tried dry ice?? It might be too cold and freeze everything
Can you put in a newer series engine with OHV?
Some older Jeeps had the similar valve set up with the intake valves are in the head, and the exhaust valves in the block. The F Head engine
Having run old and new rigs I would say it depends on how good a mechanic you are and the type of vehicle it is.
Most of all you should enjoy tinkering and repairing your vehicle if you are running an older rig.
If you have an older rig that keeps letting you down I would avoid solo trips...
Bring an ice chest and eat the most perishable food first.
Sometimes I'll freeze steaks and other food so it acts as ice and eat it on day 2 or 3.
Often our last day will be non perishable food.
My Jeeps have been 100% reliable.
A few water leaks and a few other issues but no major problems.
I can't speak for the V6 engine in the JK but the 4.0L was bulletproof.
The electronics on the starters and alternators were from and Asian county.
It's a Jeep thing!
Lets see what Fiat does with...
When "dry" desert camping I use paper plates, bowls and paper towells and teflon pots and pans that clean up easy with paper towels. We try to grill most dinners so that makes clean up easy. All paper waste gets burned in the campfire.
Hot water and camp suds in the frying pan to was the pan...
Are you talking about an regular JK or an Unlimited JK?
I think Kilby make a metal box/platform that goes in the back of an Unlimited in place of the rear seat.
In the USA I think one of the simplest new 4x4 vehicles is a Jeep Wrangler.
Besides being fuel injected it still has as simple drive train with manual trans and transfer case with no electric or vacuum front axle accuator systems.
Then a Dodge diesel 4x4 with a 6-speed manual?
Any others in...
the dual fuel stove and lanterns are nice because you can use the gas from your ring if you run out of white gas.
You can connvert an old stove to propane if you want.
I kept my old Coleman gear but have upgraded to propane. It is cleaner and hotter.
