    Diving in Head First!

Well this is exciting. The latest generation of smart LifePO4 batteries with built in heaters finally solved my primary concern-cold weather charging. So I have made the investment to move forward. We don't use a lot of juice in Fido. Just LED lights, the engel fridge, and in cold weather...

    Canter not starting

From your description I would guess that you have an air leak between the pump and tank which is causing the system to lose its prime. Allan

We recently commissioned one of my favorite artists to do a digital drawing of Fido. Really pleased with the results! Check out his other work on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/dsalni.drawn/

Great tires, we have had several sets of winter grips for the Jeeps and Subarus. One thing I found was watch for tread separation.... we bought from a local retailer and he does the rotations, winter summer change overs for free so he always spotted the separation and Yokohama has fabulous...

    Fuso FG "necessary" upgrades?

Hello! Tasmania tops the list of places we would like to travel to some day! Anyways, I looked all over for the receipt but couldn't find it. You will have to contact timbren directly at www.timbren.com . They are very helpful. I have actually been meaning to contact them about seeing if...

    Diving in Head First!

I just bought my third set of tires for Fido. All have been 37". The first set were BFG AT2 which were over an inch out of round and vibrated horribly. Ditched them after 5000 miles for the cheapest tires I could find. The second set were super cheap PRO COMP AT. They were ok but felt vague...

    Diving in Head First!

I am also still striving to improve the ride quality. My original design for Fido was flawed(as some of you pointed out from the first) in that it had too much cantilevered weight which was causing porpoising over bumps. One of the main causes of this was my spare tire hanging way off the...

    Diving in Head First!

It's a funny thing. I got Fido on the road six years ago and the to do list is still over 50 items long! I have checked a couple of things off the list lately. My drivers seat was getting a bit worn so I fabricated some brackets to mount an old Recaro seat I had laying around. It ended up...

Out of the box thinking : fuel economy improvements ; fg649

We get 13 mpg on 37" tires. Honestly for the weight/size of the vehicle (10000 lbs) I consider that to be very good. I don't know of another vehicle of this type that gets better. We did increase to a 50 gallon tank which nets us 600 mile range.

    Tom Hanks FJ40

On a completely different Tom Hanks note- Tom Hanks had a Vanagon Syncro Camper. I met him when he was passing through Salt Lake.

    Fuso FG "necessary" upgrades?

Parabolics are not necessary. Just have the local spring shop make new leaves that are 1.5" longer and re-arched accordingly. Get timbren bumpstops. Don't mess with the power. If you want something fast buy a raptor and a shell for it. These trucks are about reliability at low speed over very...

The way I mounted mine utilizing the fuso bracket extended them a bit but more length would be welcome. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very nice. Although the 8 mounting bolts somewhat negate the need fo do it this way. Is that a Runva? Allan
