    IFS 2001 Canter 4x4

I believe this is a japanese market canter Guts. They came like this from the factory. No low range. 4x4. 3/4 scale of an FG. https://www.cardealpage.com/column/1928 Allan EDIT: on second thought probably not. 5 lug bolt pattern on the front and 6 lug on the rear.

Frame flex and type and kind of spring?

My thought process exactly and this is why I have not installed suspension seats in Fido.

Just finished watching that video. Nice rig!

    Squeaks

Most of the squeaking I have experienced is from the front leaf spring bushings. Horrible at times. The bushings have a very short life as well. I bought a set of aftermarket shackles with grease fittings and it has helped a lot. Allan

    Are these things normal?

The excessive smoking is likely over fueling. This rules out fuel filter and tank issues. Likely related to the injection pump as you have surmised. The description you have given of the 720 degree rotation indicates to me that you may have a bad injection pump(not my area of expertise)...

Is it impossible to convert an Isuzu NPR with a wheelbase of 109" to 4x4 plus super single?

Our truck has similar specs to this. I believe our wheelbase is 114" and the box is 12'. If I had it to do over again I would try to reduce the rear overhang as much as possible as the rear cantilevered weight is wreaking havoc with the already questionable ride quality of the front suspension...

FG 649 2004 with frame rust - to buy or not to buy

We had friends with an auto transmission model of the same year fuso on their expedition truck. It had fewer gears than the manual making an already slow truck into a glacially slow vehicle. It was leaking very badly so they had a supposedly reputable shop do a complete re-seal of the...

    Buying a Fuso abroad??

Both Japan and Australia are rough environments for vehicles due to corrosion. In the manufacturing process Fuso bolts and rivets together the raw steel frame with all bracketry prior to painting. The frames are made of a high tensile steel which is particularly prone to corrosion. You get...

2005 Fuso FG 140 Engine Replacement

If it aint broke...don't fix it. An engine that has run regularly may be better than one that has been sitting. In any case, put some marvel mystery oil in the low mileage engine combustion chambers and let it sit for a week before turning over by hand to prevent sticking rings. Allan

    Are these things normal?

Mild smoking when it is cold out is closer to normal and of less concern. We regularly drive our truck at or near redline on the freeway for hours at a time with no odd sounds. Rattling at higher rpms from the engine could be heat shields on the exhaust, the exhaust itself, valve adjustment...

    Are these things normal?

The truck does not use the glow plugs to start unless it is below 25 degrees F. First issue: the smoking Our truck smokes slightly on startup when it is very cold or we are at elevation above 8000 feet. It goes away within 5 minutes. The smoking you have described seems excessive for your...

    1998 Fuso FG Tow Capacity???

Keep in mind that putting on over sized tires will drastically affect stopping ability and hence tow capacity.

Kerry, I rebuilt the spring packs myself in the driveway. I had the new individual main leaves made at AAA spring in Salt Lake. It was about $300. I then used a bunch of new stock take out springs I had gotten from a truck up fitter a few years back to construct the rest of the leaf pack. It...

Good question! They all look the same with the bump up right behind the cab, but I have never actually taken a tape measure to one. Allan

    Hitch ball through crossmember?... Maybe..

I am a fan of the three point mount but feel it is important to build a siginificant subframe in between in order to strengthen the noodle like stock chassis for the reasons that SkiFreak mentioned above. If you must go this route- I would build as large a plate as possible out of 3/8" steel...

Apologies in advance (horse beater here)

Custom one off wheel manufacturers in the US Don't go through a testing procedure to certify for road worthiness. Anything out of Australia has gone through a very rigorous basically Demolition test in order to meet road worthy certification requirements. The problem I had was that the barrel...

Apologies in advance (horse beater here)

I recommend against getting custom barrels welded together. I bought mine from a company which is no longer around. We had a failure when the weld around the two halves of the barrels failed. I believe the stresses are unusual due to the extreme offset of these wheels. Other people on the...
