Expedition Portal Project: 2008 Range Rover Sport

Thankfully no water in the intake system. Water didn't go over the bonnet but was deep enough to cover the headlights while in off road height so deep enough to give me a scare haha. I'm using this as a good reason to buy a Safari Snorkel for it... :sombrero:

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

All that complicated EAS stuff is very unreliable, i mean, you would NEVER find a high mileage D3 running with it, they all sack it off and trade to inferior coil systems because the cost is so high. Or, maybe not. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic118779.html?highlight=Guess Not bad for a...

Expedition Portal Project: 2008 Range Rover Sport

Thank's for the seats pictures. Made my mind up and i'm going to get a set for the front of my D3. Now the challenge of getting Black leather, HSE spec ones that aren't buggered and worn out for a reasonable price begins. I will add to an earlier point about off roading and extended mode...

Tire setup for winter adventure LR3

I've ran Duratrac's on my LR3 for 27,000 miles. I've done a few months of driving in Scottish winters where you can get everything in one day. I've found the tyre to be really good for normal road driving in snow, it's not slid out under power or braking, it's never struggled for traction...

Like A Moth To The Flame- My New LR3

Like A Moth To The Flame- My New LR3

Looking good! Funnily, i also have the Expo rack with curved LED bar. Mine is 50 inches, 288w and 24,000 lumems. It's superb! My car came with the side mouldings, however, mine have been fitted about 6 inches further up the doors. Right at the height a normal car's door would open and strike...

    LR3/4 roof light wiring info

A few months ago, i posted asking for roof light info, what would be best for my LR3. I got a superb response from people commenting on the pro's and con's of spots vs light bars and what worked, what sizes were good and what to avoid. I have recently bought, a 50 inch 288w curved LED light bar...

Toyota guy looking at making a switch to a LR

It's very rare in the UK to find one with the Rear diff. Most models come with a spare that's the same size though. From reading, it makes things easier but a non equipped model will still go all the same places. The G4 has never went anywhere i haven't got. Shame you can't buy and import a...

Toyota guy looking at making a switch to a LR

I don't how the US market for availability of it, we didn't get packages in the UK. Is it just the diff and a towbar? If so, you can buy towbars and electrics anywhere. Mine now has the electrics as I found genuine parts going cheap from a dealer. I only know of 1 D3 and 1 D4 with the active...

    Paint Color Ideas

I really like the colour. Oslo Blue. I had 2 Freelander's painted that colour and it was a superb shade. If i could afford to. I would happily repaint my Disco 3 that colour.

Toyota guy looking at making a switch to a LR

I would go for the LR3. For your original budget, ( not sure if sticking a ring on a finger has dented that or not. Congrads regardless :D ) you can get a nice LR3, V8 with HSE trim and HD package. Will have plenty of cash left over to go round the car, fixing any wear and tear items it will...

Overland Journal: 1995 Range Rover Classic

I'm loving this trip down memory lane from you lot talking tyres and how the older ones used to handle and perform with them. It's always good reading. :) Was a D1 that started my LR interest, brand new 94 D1, 300tdi in black. Was August 94 in Aberdeen. I was 7 years old and it was totally...

Overland Journal: 1995 Range Rover Classic

There is something about a nice original unmolested Classic. I can't put my finger on what exactly it is, but there is just something about them. Glad this one is being kept original. It's went this long so would be a shame to ruin what is a well cared for example.

Overland Journal: 1995 Range Rover Classic

Very nice! What's the plans for this one? Will it be as modded as the LR4 or will it follow a "less is more" approach like the white Disco1?

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

Hello all. Nwoods, after emptying the boot of the luggage/spares kit etc. The wheel dropped down fine. We opened the passenger door and hooked a hi lift jack to the slider's tree bar and lifted the car up to change the wheel. Had to use 2 people to work the lever due to the D3 being a touch on...

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

Due to brake callipers I'm using 19s as they are realistically the only wheel that will fit. I could get a set of compomotive pd1880/1 alloys which are 18s, but they are over £250 a wheel and I would need 5. Then 5 tyres. Not an option I can afford. My usual off road conditions are muddy wet...

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

Some varied answers so far, also a pm. I will reply to you soon sir. Here's a few pictures of the car on the lane leading up to the blowout. Hole in the tyre, I patted the sidewall back in a bit. Where it went. Couldn't roll it backwords or forwards as it was on a small plateau between...

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

Ok. That D4 has 19s and General AT's fitted. He has the pressures at 3 bar. Now a bar is 14.5psi so that's 43.5psi he ran them at... That's interesting. His terrain was more rocky than what i drove over as well.

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

Going to throw this one out there to get some info/real world examples as plenty of you US based people get the chance to do serious rock crawlling. I was taking my D3 (LR3 to others ) around some lanes on Monday and Tuesday with Defender driving mates. One lane we did is very rocky and even...
