    what are the issues

http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/122363-D3-LR3-and-RRS-tips-and-what-to-look-for-check?highlight=LR3 This was one I wrote up. I so have some extra info to add to it though, there is a superb brake guide for changing pads, discs and setting up the epb.

I made up a rough guide about it a while ago. :)

    LR3 Transmission service flush

Strange on the diff oils as my mate and I changed ours in January, the oil on his looked like Coca Cola on colour when drained, he changed it again 3 months later and the new oil was also Cola coloured. The oil out of mine was so clean I could have poured it back in the top. Results were the...

    Rack options, LR3

That's a VERY good solution for the OEM rack. Copied the pictures and added to the to do list. How do you find getting the spare off the rack, or have you never had to move it?

    LR3 Transmission service flush

    3. All around 100-125k. Failure of 5th gear under power. Failure and jerk of changes from 1st to 2nd. Reluctance to change up into 60th at highway speeds. Mine has occasional 1st to 2nd jerk, and the reluctance to change up to 6th at times.

New Off Road Range Rover next year from SVO?

Not sure on tyres, however, tyres is a good issue. We all know the limited choices for off road suitable tyres in 19-20 inch size. They also tend to have 112 speed rating, ( they do in the UK at least ) so could they fit a tyre to a l405 that is going to be a decent off road tyre but also still...

New Off Road Range Rover next year from SVO?

Can you get rid of that awful snorkel as it's the most awful thing ever that was awful. Oh, and why does the back wheel look like one of those skinny space saver efforts. It's about 3 inches wide..

    LR3 Transmission service flush

Mine was done by machine, it works like dialisis and draws dirty oil out as it puts new oil in. It takes 12 litres of oil to change over properly. You could always give it a 2nd flush in 5k time to get most of it out if you wanted.

Anybody doing an LR3 as an off-road rig?

In the end, no. A mate and i were going to come over to go to a games convention but tickets for it sold out quicker than a politician with no morals... We did catch the London one though. I'm sure my future L405 RR drove past me down there, the places is full of RR's D3/4s etc. Side benefit...

    LR3 Transmission service flush

I would strongly recommend getting the oil flushed out and changed. Mine was done at 126k but by then the old oil had broken down too much and the torque convertor has been damaged. It has a low speed judder at a light throttle when I want to pick up speed on certain hills. £1500 bill for a new...

Chinese Knock-offs, at 1/4th the price

They made a copy of an X5 a few years ago. BMW went in and tried to raise a law suit. Got thrown out. I did see a German car review of a 5 year old X5 copy. This thing was falling apart with rust showing, the drive train was in bad shape and the general build quality would have made a 70s...

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

In a word. No. :D You ALWAYS find something new to buy, something to fix or upgrade. It's the joy of Land Rover's, there is always something you can change or tweak to make it better or more your own.

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

They will be fine. My mate Kevin has them on his D3, he drives a lot harder than I am and has not had any handling issues. If they are going to be road tyres only you will get more than 30k from a set, I've used mine a lot off road which has wore them out faster than just road use only. Buy them!

LR3 owners sound off, which tires?

Hello. I have the Goodyear Duratrac in 255/55/19 from the Germany plant. I've had no issues with them for road driving, they do have a bit of extra road noise compared to normal Wranglers but it's not terrible. Have driven in temperatures ranging from -12degs to 25+ degs, no conplaints. I...

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

Interestingly, there was at launch in 2004 a base seat 5 model D3. This was a coil sprung version from the factory. I've attached a link to the full spec of the car. http://www.disco3.co.uk/wiki/Base_5_seat#UK Please note, terrain response is missing. You had to get the base seat 7 which came...

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

Jealousy is a terrible thing to have.... :p It is handy though but a v8 would have got up just as easily. I held a very light but steady throttle and the car walked up the slopes. Tdv6 has 130k on it, and needs some of the injector's given a clean up/refurb so isn't quite running 100%. It's...

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

In high grip places, they are very capable, it's almost funny how easily mine walked up that rocky slope with almost no drama. My mate acted as spotter to make sure it went fine as the D3 is used as the support car for our trips and gets loaded with the kit and tools to keep 4 Defenders going...

    Lucky8’s Project Discovery 3

5speed. I can raise my hand and say yes, I have been in a situation of driving downhill on sheet Top of the hill, snowy but car managed it, even on the worn road tyres. Nice scenery etc. However, the way back down was interesting. I was the 25th car out of 27 so by tr time I was coming to...
