    08 LR3 vs 10 LR4

D4 has the better engine and interior. Plus the more reliable air compressor for the suspension, which can be fitted to LR3 with software update. Having off roaded both 3 and 4. I would get a 4. The extra power makes it far better on the road and i really like how it drives. It also has the...

    Discovery 3 (LR3) and Discovery 4 (LR4) Registry

Could be. Love the compass decal on the sides though. Also, no matter how i look at it. That D4 nudge bar looks awful. Needs to be full size and cover the bumper as well as that looks like it could get snapped off very easily.

LR3 LR4 RRS lift Rod sale

Shipping to Scotland? These look really good, and can fit them at the same time as I sort the final suspension parts on my 3, then get the alignment sorted.

    2006 LR3 w/150k needs new engine & transmission

There is a canbus ecu on the bulkhead, behind the right hand side battery box. ( My D3 battery is in the right hand side, the brake pipes and stuff are are in the left box where us in the UK, fit a 2nd battery ) that can get water in. Remove the cover, and check all the 3 plugs. The centre one...

    2006 LR3 w/150k needs new engine & transmission

The issue with the tdv6 is that ZF say they need the oil flushed every 60-75k. Land Rover have never said anything about getting the oil changed. Very few people knew about this so lots have run for years without knowledge. So, go down the years and people like me pick up one that's at 100k...

    2006 LR3 w/150k needs new engine & transmission

I was quoted a price of £3404.40 from a ZF specialist. That was for a refurbished gearbox and torque convertor, plus oil cooler and new lines, fitting and vat. I've been quoted £1059 to have a torque convertor fitted, new oil and filter, plus fitting and vat. There is a difference, so would...

    2006 LR3 w/150k needs new engine & transmission

That's torque converter failure. You can change the torque converter without changing the gearbox. Mine is doing the same stuff so is getting a replacement one fitted soon.

    2006 LR3 w/150k needs new engine & transmission

What do you mean by slip in the transmission? Do the revs bounce up and down or do you get judder under load going up hills etc?

New Duratrac's on Gloss black HSE wheels, black centre caps. Have 20 new wheel nuts on order to tidy that up. They clear the Brembo's, but it's close..

1970s land rover 4 door, been sitting a long time. Can it be brought back?

That's the flip side. If they have been parked up, it's usually for a reason, be it mechanical or rust. You won't make money from them, so it's a love of cars but some are too far gone to be considered being rebuilt.

1970s land rover 4 door, been sitting a long time. Can it be brought back?

It is and it isn't. I have a few mates with Defenders, the ones from the 90s which are 93 and 94 models have galv chassis. The 1990 one is on original chassis. I would say you need to get a close look at them. If the bulkhead is rusty then they can be £500 to £1000 for replacements. Then you...

1970s land rover 4 door, been sitting a long time. Can it be brought back?

The basic body panels are aluminium so don't suffer the rust problem. Chassis and bulkheads are steel and can/do rust badly if left alone. Both can either be fixed or replaced but at $$$$ cost. Even though we are tripping over them in places here in the UK, a new chassis can be £500+ to over a...

    Disco3 expected repairs

Generally at that mileage I would consider the following. Knocks from front over bumps are ball joints, knock under braking is lower arm bushes. Remove whole arm and fit new one solves that issue. I would check the drop links and ARB bushes as well as they may need changed. Both are easy...

    Is it really that bad?

As Mater from Cars 2 put it. If there ain't no oil under them, then their ain't no oil in them! ;) Now, there are 2 methods of dealing with the above line. Which being British myself, is 100% accurate. It really only covers models upto 2004 really. After 04 they they don't leak. Mine doesn't...

Black LR4 in Moab, anyone off here?

Rear lights are 09-13 spec. So will have low range. We recon it was done in high range? If so, imho that make's it even more impressive for the angles and getting up. Back wheels seem to spin as they are on sand so less grip available plus dragging it's rear into the sand to take home to build...

    Alpine Window Rust

D1s rot like pears. That one will likely have a non existent cargo floor left. I would Echo a poster with the advice of getting a rust free or minimal rust one and go from there as you could be forever chasing rust areas.

How many miles on your LR3/LR4?

I linked to Characters D3 in my earlier post. He was at 675,000 in UK miles a few months ago. So should be above 680,000 by now.

How many miles on your LR3/LR4?

This is a thread from a Disco3/4 site that i'm on. It has a list of posters giving miles on the car. Plenty are near or above the 200k you speak of. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic109883.html?highlight=how+many+miles Also, if you do look after them... You can see this mileage. This is from...
