    Which Lr3 Sump Guard

The bolts are a M10 thread, with a 15mm head. Fit a washer for the front 2. Thread length for the front is 50mm and you will need a nut to secure it. The rears are also 50mm but don't need a retaining nut as they wind into holes in a plate that's there from the factory. Hope this helps.

    LR4 Winch

Read this with interest. I have managed to pick up a genuine Mantec winch sump guard and the Warn genuine LR external winch mount for £65. The guard is fitted and has been painted. I have been offered a Warn 9.5 for the car. This is what LR spec for the G4 stuff i think. Anyone have one...

    Lr3 catalytic and exhaust replacement

Decatting a Diesel exhaust is a good way to improve a bit of flow and pick up from the engine. It's been done but "technically" not legal. The way around that is to fit the decat pipe, then gut the old cat and have the shell welded over the decat. Or fit a underbody plate as if the mot tester...

    Lr3 catalytic and exhaust replacement

Do you need the cats fitted for emissions testing etc? If not, remove them and get an after market system installed. That $1800 price is £1440 and I can get a full decat system from the turbo ( Diesel engine here ) to the end of the system for under £700 so you must be able to get something...

Land Rover Body on Frame Question

The body on frame design of the LR3, gives it a great core strength. It is also makes it easy to work on for a maintanance point of view, all the wishbones, arb bushes etc are easy to get to. The unibody frame is lighter, which brings benefits to, fuel economy, performance, better kerb weight...

Expedition Portal Project: 2008 Range Rover Sport

How did you attach the traction board thingys ( In Scotland, this is used to identify anything and everything that you don't know the correct name for, in the hope the other person has the slightest clue about what you mean ) :D to the Load guard? Seems a nice simple thing to have them inside...

    Joining the club (part 1)

Beware! Landys like company. Which is how most of my mates who own one, eventually woke up to see another on the drive.. To the extent I'm the only one out the group that doesn't have two or more. However, should a 80/86 series 1 come along that isn't a massive basket case needing major cash...

    Which Lr3 Sump Guard

I had this one on my D3. It was made by RLD off Disco3.co.uk and cost me a whole £125... It's dented, scraped and has seen plenty of action. I've just sold it on for £125 as i've bought the Mantec Winch guard as i also have bought an external winch mount for the D3. That also cost me a whole...

Spotted some testing diesel Rangies stateside

Any time I've shown my own D3, people on here have commented on how they wished it was available for the US market. Reasons including the 420-550+ mile range to a tank, the low down torque for when off the Tarmac and also for towing as the diesel is a better tower than the petrol for having...

Spotted some testing diesel Rangies stateside

The Sport will have the twin turbo 3.0 v6 diesel as fitted to the UK spec Sports, D4 and L405 models. The specs are pretty good for it. Power and torque is 255bhp and 516lb ft of torque. 0-62 takes 6.8 seconds and it's limited to 130 mph. Fuel economy figures are in UK ( true ;) ) gallons. 35.8...

LR3 (Discovery3) ARB Rear Locker installed

From experience, there is no hard and fast rule for leaving it on or turning it off. Just experiment and see what suits you, the car and the terrain you are on.

LR3 (Discovery3) ARB Rear Locker installed

Be very interesting to see this in action with videos, also curious how yours got stuck and the HD one didn't. Was it the same line or just not able to get enough traction? It's a future mod i'm considering for my own D3, the active rear diff is a very rare option for D3/4's in the UK.

LR3 - Any ideas on how mount a 50 inch LED light bar?

You need the prospeed mount for it.

Rover Warrior.... LR3 Build engagement pics

Have you got under body plating for the gearbox and fuel tank? Would get some of that as well. Then lockers. Front and rear. ( i like helping other's spend their cash :D )

Rover Warrior.... LR3 Build engagement pics

I would get sliders first. A decent set of rock and tree ones, will act as a step to get in/out the car. Protect the sills when going over rocks and help keep the doors from getting bashed. Some also extend under the car to the chassis so will also protect the compressor and air reservoir...

    Lower control arm

If it's an LR3 then you can upgrade to the RRS lower arms. They have a larger ball joint and better bushes. The ride is a touch firmer but it's a good mod. From experience, I would fit genuine parts but you can always haggle over the price, I always haggle with the parts guys and can get 20%...

How far can you drive an LR3 / Discovery 3 without an alternator?

Tbh, the alternator sits low on the diesel ones as well, welcome to having engines that came from other makers and adapted to suit. Mine was replaced by the previous owner from wear and tear at 98k. The D3/4's like a good supply of power and the alternators get a hard life. Realistic life is...

Calling LR3 and LR4 lowers, loyalists, cool aid drinkers and skeptics...

Just buy a L405 and be done with it. :) The lr3 is the off road car so you don't need to build a 2nd one. Just get something comfy that can cover miles and be relaxing. You can get off road tyres for them for 20s now in case you want to change from stock tyres. Plus it should have the heated...

Calling LR3 and LR4 lowers, loyalists, cool aid drinkers and skeptics...

Can you get a L405 RR? Having been in a friends MY12 Disco4 SDV6 hse. It's MILES better than my Disco3. The engine was far superior, more power, actual grunt when you put your foot down and the 8 speed with flappy paddles was a nice bonus. The interior is much nicer, the seats are far better...
