Unless the crush cans are removed I think it could still be a possible issue. A 9000 lb winch should be plenty for a D2. Pick up a snatch block for use with any real difficult pulls
Yes, that's what I've read. Seems to be harsh on plastic components in the cooling system as well, notably he nipple on the bottom of the coolant reservoir
I'm convinced headgasket issues are exacerbated by the Dexcool coolant used (and suggested) from the factory. I've had 1 headgasket let go between two 100k + mile D2's. I have had no failures with many miles on traditional green coolant
I had the TT/Detroit combo on my old DII and it was great. Only downside is off camber in the slippery stuff. Besides occasional clicking from the locker backing out of a parking spot it maintained good road manners
I save a lot of space downsizing my cooler for day/overnight trips. Depending on what I choose to bring for food I can get a weekend's worth in a soft sided cooler if I'm solo. Mainly an advantage from the bulk and ice side of things.
As has been mentioned, some sleeping bags take up a ton of...
Use the search function or google - I think most of your questions have been addressed. Head gaskets aren't a 100k issue per se - they can go if you overheat it or have a cooling system in poor condition. If you're not willing to be anal about preventative maintenance and turn wrenches yourself...
I can't imagine that would be a good idea. There honestly isn't much to the factory bumpers that isn't plastic so you're left with very little to even begin from
I'd say keep and rebuild. Invest some now and have a great rig for years to come. The resale values is so low it's hardly worth it to sell and get something else. I'm taking a similar route for my D2.
Glad you're putting your rig to good use. The hood color has always bugged me so I'm glad you're bringing it back to original XD spec! A great looking example of an XD
