Lucky 8 made 17's for an LR3/4 for a period of time but believe they're NLA. A friend of mine has them on his LR4 IIRC

Yes, that's what I've read. Seems to be harsh on plastic components in the cooling system as well, notably he nipple on the bottom of the coolant reservoir

I'm convinced headgasket issues are exacerbated by the Dexcool coolant used (and suggested) from the factory. I've had 1 headgasket let go between two 100k + mile D2's. I have had no failures with many miles on traditional green coolant

I had the TT/Detroit combo on my old DII and it was great. Only downside is off camber in the slippery stuff. Besides occasional clicking from the locker backing out of a parking spot it maintained good road manners

Use the search function or google - I think most of your questions have been addressed. Head gaskets aren't a 100k issue per se - they can go if you overheat it or have a cooling system in poor condition. If you're not willing to be anal about preventative maintenance and turn wrenches yourself...

I'd say keep and rebuild. Invest some now and have a great rig for years to come. The resale values is so low it's hardly worth it to sell and get something else. I'm taking a similar route for my D2.
