Hi, since 2018 I have had Goodyear Duratec AT tires on my lifted Chinook, the tire size is LT235/85/16, rig weighs about 9.500lbs. These are great tires both on and off-road in all conditions and held up great but due to age I am looking to replace.
However, since I regularly drive 3 - 8 hours...
Seriously, with all the well known and documented state of RV build problems there, do you think they can even put a team together in Elkhart with true craftsman that actually care about build quality?
For example, EC takes pride in wiring, not sure anyone in Elkhart can or would be motivated...
Black Tanks Matter......the Wrappon would be second. I looked into both composting and cassette and both had drawbacks that were deal killers, based on our uses/needs.
Give me my porcelain water flush goddess or give me death!
I just found our original window sticker to our 2004 JGC we still have, it was 2wd but had the 4.0 high output engine, cost was $30k In 2004. My how prices have risen, price doubled in 20 years.
At time I could not afford both the H.O. and 4wd so got the HO as most driving was highway...
Actually tents are heavy, bulky and unnecessary. Just go with a tarp, properly set up with ground cloth and it has many advantages over a tent - I did this for years.
A few months ago my 2014 WK2 (330k miles) went kaput, so I immediately needed to get a new vehicle, choose a 2024 Grand Cherokee again but went with Limited as I hated the Overlands problematic air suspension system.
Sticker of my 2014 WK2 Overland in 2013 was $48,985.
Sticker on new 2024...
Great build, are you including bathroom or just pullout toilet somewhere?
I am always fascinated by people that have the skills to tackle projects like this, can I ask your background or where you picked your mechanical know-how?
Hi, I am looking at a 2024 Four Runner to replace JGC, I know the 4runner is awesome off-road but how is the long distance highway driving? I average 30k miles a year mostly on highway with many drives 7 - 10 hours on highway/interstate. Will these long drives get old in 4Runner.
Thanks
Went to my local Toyota dealer to inquire about ordering LC. They expect to start receiving them sometime mid-year, however they are only expecting a couple a month and their waitlist has 45 people on it, they do NOT charge a dealer markup of any type but will not discount from msrp either.

I agree. The second time I visted Provan I had a check for deposit, as I took the long drive down I realized the money I would be spending would be for great vehicle that sits most of the time because I wasn't retired yet. By the time I got there I talked myself into instead finding a less...
FWIW, I went to factory twice a few years before Covid and these were $150k'ish NEW with chassis. 2012/3 used models on lot were $80 - $90k!!! Now new are $139K plus overpriced chassis probable around $80K putting new cost around $220k.....wow, just wow.
Great write up and pictures. When we lived in GA we spent tons of time camping in Suches area and hiking the AT and areas.
I have a Chinook Concourse RV I use for off-road boonedocking fly fishing trips. It's lifted with AT tires and winch but 21.4 feet long, 10.5" tall including AC and almost...
Mods...you forgot the mods......during Step 4, but before Step 5, you will realize the perfect rig based on all your research is not perfect for your needs so the mods will start.
Once the mods start the rabbit hole begins.....researching for hous, selecting the perfect piece of eqpt, finding...
I reconnected all six positive cable to first positive battery terminal post, and order longer 2 AWG black cable to run to far battery negative post per CMARJeeps link according to Method 2.
My positive terminal looks pretty crowded with six connectors not sure if great setup.. Would the Blue...
Do I need a fuse block or could I use a buss bar? I need to connect the 8 positives to it and then have that connect to first batteries positive terminal. I think the positives have fuse upline.
