    Front Runner Wolf Packs

I use both boxes also, agree with RBills re: size. But I prefer the Cub Packs for the easier to operate lid latches. Plastic or metal, it seems I’m always beating my fingers up trying to unlatch the Wolf Packs. YMMV. Of note, I also use and recommend the soft-sided flat packs from Front Runner...

Thanks for the detailed reply. We share some of the same concerns and considerations. I’m always on the lookout for a good used Callen but as you know...unobtanium. ? I’ll continue to look at Lifetime/Workmate.

Yeti Overland’s Tundra OVRLND Camper build

Following your build...nice job! Quick question re: interior electrical panel. What material are you using for the backing plate? Thanks in advance.

    Stoves??

THIS: I don’t have all the inserts and just set a fry pan directly on the grate. Heavy duty foil is your friend, but as CSG mentioned earlier, the size of it is problematic. I use a JetBoil for heating water.

    Ran 2500 8ft bed

Add to that breakover angle when offroad. That being said, you’ll never regret the extra space.

Great write-up and observations about Baja are right on...thanks! Is that a Callen camper on your truck?

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

Very impressive! Like you, I want my system to truly be portable. I use my truck (USA pickup truck, 8’ enclosed bed gas guzzler) as a truck, so my camping setup in the back is comfortable, but completely removable. I have a Utah desert trip with friends scheduled in June (C-19 tentative) and...

    General gripe

I have a 10-year+ HardWear soft shell with a pit zip that delaminated. I was concerned that the lifetime guarantee wouldn’t be honored since they were bought out by Columbia. Dropped them an email, shipped them the jacket, and they repaired/returned it quickly, no cost. Still a good company! ?

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

Very interested in hearing about your experience with the PLB-40. I have resisted the urge to install a dual battery setup in the truck and currently use an ArkPak 730 with 105ah marine battery. Calling it a portable system is fine until I pop a hernia moving it in and out of the truck. ???

Thoughts on Ford Traction LOK LSD

I’ve driven clutch/cone LSDs with mixed results. Check out Detroit Truetrac, a gear driven unit.

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

67cj5: you make a good point and indeed, when I used a single bin fridge, I had to load items (and rearrange items as they were depleted) with different temp requirements in mind. But I was never completely satisfied or successful with that method. You are correct that there are certainly...

The Official Dometic CFX Fridge Feed!

Re: temp differentials based on proximity to side walls. I borrowed a method used in RV absorption fridges. I have a small battery powered fan that gently circulates air inside the fridge side (I have the 75 DZW). Definitely helps keep consistent temps. The fan is powered by 2 “D” batteries but...

    Skinny vs wide tires pros/cons

265/75-16s are widely available in all types and ratings; that‘s a plus if you need to find one in an emergency. I run them on my 2500HD...stock size was 245/75-16.

    Skinny vs wide tires pros/cons

Not sure what you’re driving or the load ratings for the “sl casing” you refer to but you could probably get away with LR-D (old rating 8 ply) rather than LR-E (old rating 10 ply). Unless it’s a heavy rig that needs 80 psi max inflation LR-D with 65 psi can be a good choice. Side ply may be more...

2004 Toyota Sequoia - Building a Family Snow Cruiser

Boxes are great for protecting gear...try to fill all the nooks and crannies with lightweight extra stuff...but be sure to check the height of your vehicle. We ran a box on top of our Suburban without issue but some condo garages are barely 7’ clearance and you could easily tear the box and...

    Rear Shock Suggestions

I’ve had great all around results with Bilstein. Ran Fox on the Dodge for while and they did well for higher speed runs in the desert. Somewhere around here they did temp tests and found Fox better able to dissipate heat due to the aluminum body...? YMMV depending on intended use. If I recall...
