    Home Made Awning

Clever. I searched the world over looking for just the retracting hardware found in those screens for my awning. No luck. But I never thought about just using a projector screen - or replace the material with canvas or tent material. Whatever. Anyway, nice work. You can display a...

    New King Kamper QWIK Awning

I like how it's self supported without guy lines. Stake-free set up is ideal. I look forward to basking under that sucker for awhile.

    Eezi-awn questions

ha! Remodel the garage with a taller door, or - what the hell - dig a trench in the driveway to get the FJ to dip down enough to get in that sucker. :sombrero:

    05 Frontier sleeping platform/storage setup

Irony alert! The thread is about a sleeping platform . . . I think you can get rid of the apartment, sleep in the truck, and just rent a garage. :)

Hostile Lands of SOAZ: Dragoons to Chiricahuas, April 25-27

Okay guys and gals, the interest in this trip is intense. Holy cow, I didn't expect all of that. Since I've got no idea what the camps will offer on either night, I've got to cap this sucker at 10-12 vehicles. I made a list in the first post, check it out. If you're on that list and you...

    roof rack or trailer?

If money and time were no object, I the trailer is the superior choice. The major benefits that a roof rack can't match: keeping the trailer packed and ready to roll (less food and water), greater capacity and growing space, permanent installation not necessary. I'm ashamed to say, though...

    Thanks to Chip Haven

Good thread. I don't know Chip, and I know less about campers, but I always notice his class-act level of contribution with every post he makes.

    Four weeks in New Zealand

The glacier blows me away. I like your style and the wide angle shots. Now, when you say, "Mediocre Pancake Rocks shot..." I assume that Mediocre is the name of the pancake rocks . . . :)

Blue sea fuse block, w/ or w/out negative buss?

Depends :) Not very necessary if the fuse block is close to the battery. But the more the supply cable between the fuse block and battery bends or passes through nooks-n-crannies, an inline fuse is a good idea. Should that cable get nicked, you want a safeguard to keep the vehicle from...

Blue sea fuse block, w/ or w/out negative buss?

With the ground bus attached - and provided you ground the fuse panel solidly - you'll never have to concern yourself with locating a good place to ground your newly installed electronic gizmo. Of course you don't need the ground bus attached to the fuse block. It's just clean and easy...

Introducing my new rig: The Phoenix

That's a fantastic looking machine, Ed. The question begs itself: what'd you do with the 40 and the Horizon? Or what are you going to do with those? Any particular reason for the Pinz purchase? Did you wake up one day and say, "I think I'll go find a Pinz . . . " or did a deal fall your...

    hot water heater

Hmm, good point. I haven't put in a filter on the vent tube. Off the top of my head, go to an auto parts store and get an inline fuel filter. Clamp it to the end of your 1/4" vent line. My vent line is so long that I've never worried about it. But a fuel filter would only be less than $10...

My new vehicle: 2005 Nissan Frontier

Since the article in Overland Journal came out, I’ve been asked about my rear suspension numerous times. Perhaps I should go into detail here, as it’s not top secret and it isn’t that fabulous. Here’s the set up: Add-a-leaf spring pack, advertised as 3” of lift Extended shackles, advertised...
