    Flyingwil's Taco is growing up!

So says Tom Petty. But what the hell does he know? "Don't let it kill you baby, don't let it get to you"

    Shooting Wide

Learn to love it. :) This is the nature of mega-wide angle lenses. So try to keep round objects away from the edges if you don't like the effect. I wouldn't make that an absolute rule though, because sometimes the composition and/or light trump your dislike of the distortion. Other...

Old Man Emu: Late model Frontier and Pathfinder

Thanks for posting the photos and information, Ed. Jeff, the parts for the Frontier are available for sale through any ARB dealer (I've been quoted pricing and availability). However, no dealers are promoting it. I should back up.... the XTerra has a spring under rear axle, right? So I...

    Best CB set-up:

Curious: What's the benefit here? If you can make your HAM radio transmit on 11 meters and get into some dude's CB radio in a Jeep . . . that doesn't mean he can talk to you (due to the lower transmit power on his radio). I suppose you could tx your coords and just hope it hits somebody - but...

    Expo Portal Ham Radio Net - 15 Jan 2008 @ 19:00 PST

I'm in Chandler, and will be attempting to connect via 448.950 (5430). I've never tried that unit before though. I've no idea if she's running. I could hit Tempe, too, maybe downtown Phoenix. We'll see what Lance is up to.

Old Man Emu: Late model Frontier and Pathfinder

Ed, you rule. Greasable shackles? I love it. Any idea what the CS050R are? Thanks, Mark Edit: never mind.... leaf packs probably....

Old Man Emu: Late model Frontier and Pathfinder

Ed, very nice. Thanks. Please share the part numbers. I thought this only provided about 1.5" increase . . . based on international part numbers anyway. What can you share about your impressions so far? And do you have the original equipment upper control arms? Cheers, Mark

    Canyon DeChelly/UT/AZ March 19-23rd 2008

Curious now . . . when are you going to be in the Canyon de Chelly area? If it lands on the weekend of the 22-23, I may be able to join you. Any idea how your plan is taking shape?

    New gadget - Hi Lift Handle-All multi-tool

We put it through the wringer a few months ago. Attached picture shows my buddy splitting logs with it. He's the sort that doesn't show any mercy on his tools. But he did manage to work one of the hitch pins free after splitting 12 logs. I think it's a fine tool, the 6-lbs hammer being...

Oh man, that's right you're the history teacher . . . ! I was going to make some commentary about white man's version of Am. history and what really happened. I'll save it for the campfire. HA!

Another note about the CdC guides, he/she will ride with you in your vehicle. I did this in a two-vehicle team and our guide used the CB when we were on the move. Your blind father should have a nice time.

    Canyon DeChelly/UT/AZ March 19-23rd 2008

Making me hungry for a Rodeo Cheeseburger, boys. Yes, if you get a guide at Canyon de Chelly you'll be able to get into the canyon. A good guide will tell you some stories, histories, talk about rock art, piece together the history of CdC with the stuff you learned in sop****re American...

The future of Jeep and adventure publications is here!

Richard might want to design the future flip books with larger fonts maybe, or "wide screen" layout? I love how you can browse through it like a magazine on your lap.

    java juice?

Brooke and I tried it. It has a slight "odd" taste, very slight, but good. In today's age, you pay for packaging. These things are a buck twenty-five at REI - and that makes one cup of the dark jewel. Starbucks pricing for camp coffee . . . think about that for a minute. :)

How do you keep all those loose items sorted?

Hilarious! Of course, why don't we just say to hell with it and just embrace the mess? We'll be much better for it. :)

My new vehicle: 2005 Nissan Frontier

Yep! That's the Engel 35, and it just barely fits under the bed rails. There's a unit by Waeco that's a similar size, too. By the very nature of fridges needing to keep precious beverages cold, they just don't make them shallow and wide/long. The 35 is a fine size though. We're humans...
