Man I want this so bad! Exactly what I am looking for, outside of the extra digit in the price. Hope this sells soon so I can quit opening this thread....
Such an awesome idea and I am likely going to steal this. Been looking at different ideas for the spare on my M1010 project but have been trying to steer away from a swing out like my last rig. It worked fine but I needed to have space behind the rig to swing the tire out, to get into the...
Wow! Wasn't expecting to see the truck for sale. Looks so weird without the FWC on. If this was a 3500, I would likely be interested in buying it back and put my M1010 box on the back. The 2500 is 600 lbs. less GVWR than my M1010 rig.
Good luck with the sale. Really loved that setup!
I kind of liked the idea of a built in canopy when the back it up. :) Almost wonder if you could put an RV type door in the middle of the back hatch and have the best of both world. Easy entry and fully open and covered.
Not mine or any affiliation but looked like an interesting van. Add a U-Joint 4x4 kit and it could be a fun setup.

Little update on parts being acquired. Back in Nov. 2020 I ordered a couple more gauges from Speedhut, to match my current ones. Picked up a gas tach (for the engine swap) and a trans temp which I will put where the current 24v gauge is located. I also ordered 6, LED exterior lights from...
As I stated in a previous post, I had great luck with my NovaKool and am awaiting delivery of my new one for my current build. Should be here in the next couple weeks.
Thanks for the info. I was checking out the site and realized they are local to me, about 7 miles away. Likely need to swing by and talk with them. Looking forward to more updates. :)
Cool. Couple questions if okay.
1. with the foam insulation, what are you using to glue them in place?
2. did ePlastics indicate any thermal expansion/contractions with using ABS for the interior walls?
I have been looking at FRP panels and many of them say to leave an 1/8" gap to allow for...
That is looking awesome!!!! Great work and love how the exterior has turned out.
What ABS panels are you using inside and where did you get them? I am getting close to starting the re-panel of my M1010 and have been looking at alternatives to wood products.
No, current stable of Bilstein's are 1999 Jeep Cherokee, 1984 Chevy CUCV M1010 ambulance and 1972 Chevy El Camino. Had them on my 1997 Ram 2500 with FWC popup. Never owned anything as big as a F550 (nor have room for anything that big. LOL)
Depends on what Bilstein shocks you get. Look at 5160 or 5165 series, they are definitely for off road use. From what I have been reading recently, Fox has gotten too big, too fast in the vehicle shock market and their quality has gone downhill. One report I just read was of a guy who put on...
How do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. Keep up the work. It's looking good. I am kind of in the same boat with my M1010 project. Gets hit and miss amounts of time to work on it.
From what I read, most 19.5" wheel/tire combos are for OTR trucks with very high weight. They are more for supporting the load than ride comfort. I have never used anything in the 19.5 (or big truck world) but my guess is you are going to be fighting a losing battle. Ride comfort from tires...
