I'm not sure...
Friend that gave me info is an Ex GXV Turtle owner and i deem him completely reliable and honest.
From what i've been told, the Adventure Truck owners with issues were basically told they would be either repaired or compensated if they kept hush.
Obviously no way to confirm...
Also worth noting, if you look at the Classified section, the majority of them are almost new flatbed campers on 1/2 tons... Almost all say "Going to something bigger" or something along those lines.
Sooooooo.... Draw your own conclusion there.
My C&C 5500 is the exact opposite and its boxed forward of the cab and open C channel behind the cab.
I put a goprop under it for some light offroading and the amount of movement in the frame rails was freaking nuts. Cant imagine the amount of stress on them and what would happen if it was...
When was the last time you did a close inspection of your frame rails under the truck close to the cab?
I wouldnt say there alot, but there are several on the Cummins forum that have reported, and posted pics of their frames cracking after hard mounting flatbeds and campers
Also worth noting is where the camper will sit in relation to the rear axle and where you center of gravity is.
This guy contacted me regarding setting up his Tundra and a FWC. I adamantly told him it was a bad idea due to where it would sit on a double cab, and how the FWC weigh a fair amount...
This couldnt be a more incorrect statement.
Of course it doesnt flex with a flatbed mounted to it, thats because its transferring the energy elsewhere and will likely lead to frame and or flatbed cracking. Energy doesnt simply disappear
Take the flatbed off and see how much the frame flexes...
You comments here are ignorant, blatantly WRONG, and could have serious consequences if someone decided to take your incorrect advice. Please educate yourself at least a little bit
C&C frame dont flex much you say?
Do you need anymore evidence than this (fast forward to about the 5:30 mark):
Good!
GXV put out some fairly shady stuff and their customer service was horrendous!!
My friend had a Turtle, and the box inside was all nice and fancy, but climbing under the truck, it looked like a 10 year old did all the welding and fabrication.
I also heard several rumors they were in...
Ooooh.. I havent seen one of those setups in YEARS
Did that on my 80 series and it was magical.
From what i understand those aux gauges are basically "Unobtainium" now
You do NOT need a lift for 35-37 tires on the 2019+ Rams
I have the 6spd Asian HD in mine and it absolutely shifts like a school bus. I'd much before clunky shifting over transmission issues, so its not an issue for me at all, just an FYI
Regarding the "Headache Rack" comments. There is...
I was in the same boat when building my latest camper.
The choice was going to be my first Domestic vehicle ever, so i had no brand loyalty.
I went and drove ALL of them and quickly settled on the Ram. Mainly due to MUCH lower road noise in the cab than the Ford, and i liked the interior MUCH...
Well...
I FINALLY got my front shocks installed and took it for a test drive. WOWWWWWWWWW.... Night and freaking day!!!
Apparently i missed an email (went to junk folder) that the rears are delayed 3 weeks because they are a weird custom thing and hose is coming out of bottom. No biggy, no...
The service TPMS system light is because the system is looking for the other 2 sensors from the dually wheels. Not the tire pressure.
I’ve been unsuccessful eliminating it, buts it’s been a non issue whatsoever in 10k miles
Truck is coming along awesome man
After weeks of back and forth emails with measurements, more measurements, a few more measurements, and then some measurements....
My one off custom Front shocks are finally here from ADS and hoping to bolt them in this weekend.
Hey @mk216v these are also "Pintops" [insert middle finger kissy...
Yes, the 4500/5500s have the aux tap built in, just like the sprinters.
No idea about the 1500/2500/3500s though. I would doubt it with a gas system, much more ignitable
