    1995 Mitsubishi Montero LS 4X4 7 passenger - $2900

1800 Max Price I would pay for a 95 LS. Not a bad vehicle but I think you can find a better deal. I would hold out for an SR, but one advantage of the LS is the simpler 175 HP 24V SOHC engine. An improvement over the 12V 3.0, but 40HP less than the DOHC 3.5 in the SR. This one will have...

    2nd Gen heater

Same issue with my 99. Weak heat on drivers side only. Going to try reverse flushing the heater core and see if that helps.

    Eurosonic's Montero 2.5Gen Build Thread

I've seen the front diff assemblies from Gen 3's relatively cheap from time to time. I was just unsure of the fitment into a gen 2. Anyone tried it yet? I've noticed the front cover is different but holes for mounts/brackets appear to be about the same but that's just looking at it without...

    Eurosonic's Montero 2.5Gen Build Thread

The issue with setting up a used ring and pinion is that the gears wear in the old rig a certain way, and when you install those gears in a new housing and carrier of the new rig, it can make it impossible to read the mesh pattern accurately. This is why a lot of shops wont install used sets...

    Eurosonic's Montero 2.5Gen Build Thread

Actually that's a thread on installing the Aussie locker not a Detriot. The Aussie locker is whats commonly refered to as a "lunch box" or drop in locker. It installs in the existing open carrier after removing the spider gears. Since the original carrier is used and the pinion gear is not...

Keep any shims that are on either ends of the pinion gears and there will also be shim (s) on the side(s) of the bearings when you pop the front diff out of the Case. You may need these when setting them up in your diff.

I've left the Toyota Fold, AKA my Montero Build Thread

I'd stick a scope or something into the lower intake to inspect see what kind of damage the valve plate did, and if there are any remnants that still need to be removed. If compression is still good maybe you got lucky and it got spit out without doing too much damage.

Montero go to mitsubishilinks.com You should be able to download the FSM from there. With my old 95 I noticed very little seat of the pants difference between 92 and 89 octane, but the engine will run optimally on 92.

95 sr I would put first priority on fixing the fuel leak. First it can catch fire and cause big problems. Second, you probably have low fuel pressure to the injectors because of it, which may or may not explain the lack of power. Fix that and go from there. The tach problem is common as these...

    A little Tech help, please

Cooling I agree that the computer is telling you it is running too cold. Do you know when the T-Stat was last changed? It may be stuck open or at least partially open. I recommend replacing with an OEM T-Stat. The OEM is way beefier than aftermarket. One other Item to check would be the CTS...

Mike, I could be wrong on my dates I know a lot about the regular Montero and less about the sport....but I dont think so. One other thing to check, In Montero's the models with the 3.0 V6 have a smaller diff than the models with the 3.5. I'm pretty sure the sport is the same way. So you want to...

Mike, the dealer, Info is most likely correct about the axle shafts being the same. The locker was discontinued in the Montero Sport in the US after 99, and the introduction of the coil spring rear suspension, so it makes sense that all the shafts would be the same after that. You "should"...

Mike no worries. Its the flexible Diaphragm inside the differential that you need to make sure you don't over pressurize not the pump. If you blow it, sourcing a new one could be difficult. Regulating the air down to pressure would not be all that hard, but you have to also wire in a release...

axles A couple things here. I'm assuming the 2001 sport has coils in the rear, and not leaves like the late 90's models, but even so, the sport utilized stamped steel trailing arms, and from looking at them, they dont look like they would interchange with the Montero SR axle. Also another...
