Auto Technica Garage's Rally raid project!

John Baker used to make tubular upper A Arms for the gen 1 back in the early 90's. I wish I could have gotten my hands on a pair. They were a little over 700 bucks back then so at the time and still are out of my price range.

    04 xls opinion

You should do a lot more research on the Montero and Montero Sport and look at an test drive each. The fact that you need help with basic identification, tells me you need to research some more in order to form your own opinion before you are ready to spend a good amount of money and make a...

    crank pulley broken?

The roll pin is inserted into the crank sprocket which fits on the end of the crankshaft snout. It's not part of the crank itself. Remove the sprocket and replace. A new one will come with a pin in it. Make sure you are familiar with the timing belt procedure, because you'll have to remove it...

    montero and sport expedition box

    1. Yes, a short wheel base Montero that dodge rebadged as the Raider in the late 80's. 2. Probably because it is. More than one way to skin a cat, with a similar end state.

    crank pulley broken?

It would help if you told us what year/ model/engine size you are referring to as the design varies. That being said, sounds like your crank bolt threads or the threads in the crankshaft might be stripped. Mitsu has re-designed the crankshaft bolt for the V6 three times now, they are known to...

    2nd Gen heater

Messed around with mine today. I took off the hoses going to the core, then used a plastic tube I got from Home Depot to force CLR through it (used good ol' lung power). I used half of a small bottle of CLR going through one direction then the other half going the opposite direction. it seemed...

2001 Montero XLS top end rebuild

Not sure what type of gain you will see. Too bad we don't have a dyno sheet from it before the mods. I'm guessing you wont see to all that much untill you match the exhaust. Keep in mind you have two cat converters to blow through as well. Matching the manifolds is a good idea though, and with...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Hate to say I told ya so, but yea. There are a lot of different combos that we have found in these. Dependent on engine size/yr/model/and transmission type. We got it pretty much figured out now over on the wire. Basically only two sizes to be concerned with on the Gen2's though. Now that you...

Did you get the CV axles? Your going to need those as well. Probably will need the front driveshaft as well in order to mate it to the flange on the diff.

Check: Vacuum to CAD, its electrical control circuit, or the cad engagment sleeve broken. This is assuming the CV axles are good like you said. I would double check that to ensure you dont have a busted stub shaft that you cant see on either the diff side or the hub side. Last resort check the...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

The Vacuum that controls the CAD (front axle disconnect) is electrically actuated. If you got something screwey with that circuit it could cause what you describe. I would check those connectors as they are mounted to the frame on the front. Ensure that they are not water logged or broken off...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

So your saying the truck will only move in 2hi? In 2 hi is everything normal? or are you able to move but still hearing things? My guess would be that you might have a busted front CV joint. Since you said the shop found a busted boot, that could mean the joint let go (and thus busted the boot...
