    Highlanders unite!

Let's see: I modified a really nice 87 Montero with an oak tree, killing an otherwise really nice 87 Montero. I have modified a gold 86 Montero, the above silver 87 Montero, a black 87 Raider, aqua and burgundy 91 Monteros with air tools and a pair of demolition saws to harvest rust repair and...

Colorado Bill, I know that RC's aren't great on gas. My '77 Dodge W300 with 4.88s, full time 4wd, and a walk in service body returned 3 mpg highway. What kind of range and combined mileage is your FI truck getting with the 3/4-ton gear? Pics of what I'm looking at:

    A realistic outlook: Differences between 30x9.50, 31x10.50, 33x10.50

Here are several, various rim & tire size combos I've used on my Raider. :ylsmoke:

I'll take an LC70, k? Bring it back as carry-on. :Wow1: Now, begin "Jealous" by Nine Inch Nails (right??).

    A realistic outlook: Differences between 30x9.50, 31x10.50, 33x10.50

I have used the 30, 31, 32 and 33(x12.5) tires on my Raider. I had the most fun with the 33s. My Raider was only driven hard and over varying terrain for about 100 thousand miles. For the grading jobs I was on, the 33s were appropriate. For trips up and down the Sierras, the 31s allowed me to...

Dual Alts or one big one?

Is it fashionable to run the second alternator from the trans or t-case output shaft anymore? This is something I've seen rodders do for space consideration and uncluttering.

Thanks for the pics and such, really miss the flexi with my Mitsubishis. The truck I'm looking at has recently been smogged and I'd likely make a move to the FI for the cold morning starts if nothing else...no more popping when everything is frozen. The white RC is on 305s?

Why does "size matter" in N.America???

What I include in this statement is the ability to carry a similar payload on a dimensionally smaller chassis. The LC70 is about 70% the overall dimensions of an F250. ...Boils down to that I want an LC70 and can't purchase one in the domestic market.

In college, when we took Orange Thunder out... Orange Thunder was our name for the '84 RC our school had, a temperamental 318, automatic, low ground clearance, but cozy wheeler compared to the gleaming white big block 3/4-ton Suburban they had. I drove Orange Thunder lots! We carried five...

    Need Ramcharger recommendations

Hey all, My Chevy 1-ton has left the yard in trade for an enclosed trailer. I did this as an asset swap, and have a cash buyer for the trailer. I am considering an '87 Ramcharger as my solid axle replacement for the mostly unused Chevy. The Ramcharger has a 6" lift, 33's, a winch and is...

Preference: Manual or Automatic for off road in your Mitsu...

Funny that my only driveable Mitsus, so far, have all been stick shift. I drove a Gen II auto on the street and didn't like it. However, I can compare driving a stick Dodge 1-ton to an auto-equipped Ramcharger. The 1-ton had 4.88s and 33s, Ramcharger with 3.55s and 29s. The big truck was hands...

Need vehicle suggestions for around $3000

I saw a 94 Ranger today, asking $2500 in Redding. Equipped with 33s, Rancho lift, fiberglass fenders...a desert truck out of place.

New vehicle for playing. Looking for input about my possibilities.

I drove a 2006 F350 Supercab shortbed V10 4x4 as a work truck for about a year. I really liked that truck and did not want to give it back when told I'd be getting a brand new Dakota (this truck IS a p.o.s.). My work is on construction and earthwork grading sites, often carrying heavy loads. I...

Why does "size matter" in N.America???

I am aware that the LC engine won't be so super efficient. However, compare the relative size of the vehicle to competition here. The LC70 is no larger than the Tacoma? Smaller than a domestic 1-ton with similar carriage capacity, that is what I am after.

Why does "size matter" in N.America???

I've had 65 cars, trucks and trailers since 1986, ranging in size from a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite (65 mpg) to a 1977 Dodge W300 (3 mpg). The Sprite was fun and the Dodge was big. I'm stuck now with a fleet of Mitsubishi Monteros, a Mighty Max turbo with 200hp, and an '05 GMC Sierra...

My vote was for something else. I've had good luck with my Monteros and Dodge Raiders. Second, I like the Dodge Ramcharger for roominess, capacity, and parts availability. My friends also enjoy Suzuki products: Their Monteros: Happy trails, Russell
