Why to- not be complacent while working on you rig.

I have a similar story, but need not go in to too many details. Suffice it to say, I was outside my LUV 4x4 already and physically held it from rolling from the slanted driveway toward traffic on the 4 lane street I lived along. There was never a good break in traffic to let the truck go, it...

plugged cat converter on montero...anyone else?

The cat plugged on our first Montero, just enough to limit the exhaust flow, melt the exhaust manifold and two valves, and burn the hood from the bottom side. The repair cost was almost the purchase price of the Montero, wife without car for 1 week made me no friends.

Wide versus narrow tire for off road use. What says you?

When I put 33s on my Nissan kingcab, I ran 9.5s in front and 12.5s in the rear. I liked the combo very much, gave the muscle truck appearance and provided enough traction on my geo-jobs. I still like the staggered appearance.

Planning a 4x4 trip to do the Cleghorn trail in S. Cal over New Years weekend.

Looks like you had fun in the old haunts. We did that route dry in our LUV 4x4 twice, one in the snow with my Dodge dually. :sombrero:

Ford 250 v 350 payload and suspension quesitons

For you folks with these large, bulky campers: Ford has the F450 and F550 available with all the same elements as the F250/350 but more appropriate GVWs. They are not available as SRW; however, you can change that with Alcoa and other similar super single wheels. No air bags will be needed for...

    Jerry can holder/ mount options

I have two (2) Conferr spring-loaded Jerry can holders. They bolt to a flat surface and hold the cans by the handles and lip along the bottom. I've had them about 17 years, moved them around with us numerous times. PM me if they seem needed and we can make arrangements.
