    Tires: Wide or Narrow?

Yeah, that is the basically the only one I found but like you said, they are hard to find, which really doesn't make me a big fan. Did a bunch of Googling and found many people, it would take months to get them. I'll need to do some more research on other brands.

    Tires: Wide or Narrow?

Man this is depressing. My upcoming rig build, I am looking at 35" tires to help with the top speed (diesel/low RPM + non OD trans = slow top speed) and want to stick with a narrow tire and it seems most everything in a 35" size is 12.5" width. I am just not finding a 35" narrow tire outside...

FS: Canon PowerShot G11 - excellent condition -REDUCED

Bump for a good deal. LOVE my G11 and I have only used it to about 10% of its potental. Love having all the manual settings like a full DSLR but still a small enough package that I can one hand, shoot out the window while driving, full auto mode and get some great pictures. Good luck on your...

i need new/replacement seats for my XJ

I would be very tempted to look at MasterCraft Baja RS seats. These seem like good compormise between a offroad seat and a daily driver seat. http://www.mastercraftsafety.com/bajars.php I have sat in them and they are comfy but have not actually driven in them.

New Build; 1984 Chevy CUCV M1010 4x4 Ambulance

Okay, so I just couldn't wait for it to show up. I have purchased a 1984 Chevrolet CUCV M1010 ambulance as my new camper build up. I am waiting for it to get shipped out to me from IL and should have it before the end of the year. After doing a bunch of research and just about pulling the...

Aussie trailers compared to American trailers

I think the big difference is that most of Austraila is not accessed by paved roads. This leads to a lot of offroad travel and very extreme distances and weather. You have to be more self sufficant then in the US. They don't have a McDonalds within 50 miles of any place as they do in the US...

    M1008 CUCV as expedition platform?

I agree the CUCV's have all the right HD parts for a rock solid and reliable rig. That is why I am awaiting my M1010 to be shipped to me. With the ambulance box on the back, I am going to build a camp rig that can support two people without having to deal with a trailer like we currently do...

    Scepter Fuel Cans

With the yellow straps, this were originally diesel cans with the correct gasket for diesel, correct? The price is $90 for two cans, shipped? Just want to clarify exactly what I am reading. If they are diesel cans and that price, I'll take two of them.

out with the old in with the new

Almost bought one last week. Word of caution, if you have another person that will ride shotgun, if you are looking at older one, make sure you have them test ride in the pass. side. My wife found with the engine doghouse size and vans typically having the engine offset to the pass. side, it...

Advice on a platform for a FWC or other slide in

Given your list, my first choice would be the Dodge. Great engine, solid overall truck and 4x4's have the same basic suspension as the Jeep Cherokees which ride very nice and can really articulate when needed. Definitely would be what I would buy.

    1988 suburban cummins to be

Great looking 'burb. I say keep it white. That is the official color of ExPo, ExPo White. A huge benefit is, it doesn't get hot like dark colors do. Not sure if that's a problem for you but down here in the southwest, desert sun will make a dark color really uncomfortable to be around...

    What to do?

Honestly, KYB shocks are about one step above stock shocks and basically suck! I have had them on a few projects and ended up hating every one of them. I made the switch to Bilstein many years back and haven't used a different shock since, when I have the option. KYB shocks are a twin tube...

    Tapered pick-up beds

Chevy/GMC was '88 with the body restyle. Really didn't think it was much until I bought a lumber rack for my '98 and when went to slide it in, it doesn't. Had to be lifted over the bed rails until it was where it needed to be and then it dropped right in.

    I have a conundrum....

It can be completely hit and miss. If all the suspension parts are in good shape, a 2" lift won't cause any issues but it can only take one random worn out part and the minute you modify anything beyond stock, it can pop up to be a bigger project than you expected. My motto, plan for the...
