Collective thoughts on CUCV m 1008 as daily driver?

I actually email him today about his M1010 (5/4 ton ambulance) but it was just recently sold. It was the only one he has had. I am on the hunt for one after not buying a 4x4 ambulance van earlier this week. Was bummed but the wife's feet/legs just didn't work in the small footwell area of an...

    Bradshaw Trail, Thanksgiving Weekend 2010

Thanks for the replies. Will definitely have to get back there as there are a ton a places to explore and we barely scratched the surface. Suntinez - We only found one small geode and a cool marbled rock, that we brought home. We need to get more time out there as we only spent about 45...

    Bradshaw Trail, Thanksgiving Weekend 2010

Guess this could also be called, How we spent our Thanksgiving weekend in 2010. It started with 3 rigs (TacoDoc and Mrs. Doc, my dad Harold, Lisa and myself) with the idea to set off across the Bradshaw Trail, east of the Salton Sea. We met up in Murrieta and headed to Mecca to top off with...

    1980 Ford E350 4x4 59k miles - found on ebay

Well, today was the day I was going to look at the van. Got there and was happy to find it was as good or better than expected based on the pictures. It has WAY more storage than the pics make it look. There is a sliding door behind the pass. side seat so you can close off the back area. For...

    Spare tires on the van

Why couldn't you do dual swing outs and stagger the tire heights. Place one low and the other side high so the tires "overlap". I made a very rough drawing of what I am thinking. Don't laugh too hard.

    1980 Ford E350 4x4 59k miles - found on ebay

haha, thanks TacoDoc! Thanks for the advice Terrainist. Definitely not my first time at the rodeo. I think I have bought more old vehicles than new ones (about a 2:1 ratio and that's 38 vehicles owned). Definitely going to check it over very well. My guess is the van was white and the...

    New shop.... Next project!!

Go to an autobody store and pick up sand paper that is on a roll. You can unroll it to any length. No butt joints at that point. Not sure if it matters but figured I would share the info. Cool build!!! How much does that roof weight? Looking back, do you think a steel skeleton with an...

Free pair of Mountain Khakis with a 3-year subscription to Overland Journal

Is the coupon for any size pants or just what you have on hand? Also, is it for a specific model of pants (checking MK website, they offer a number of different ones)? Thanks

Great video of Azalai Campers on various rigs

Those are exactly the type of rig I want over here. Unfortunately we will never see them as a majority of offroad people in the US are "rock crawler" types with monster lifts and huge tires. It always amazes me how other people in other counteries have realitively small lifts and tires yet...

Mounting stock jeep rubicon wheels on my trailer hubs

That would be my question. Without the stub shaft holding it all together, that hub is going to fail in very short order (as the wheel comes flying off with it).

    Want OE jeep rims 16"

Late model ('99-'01 maybe a year or two earlier) Cherokee (XJ) Classic and Limited had 16x7 wheels with the 5 on 4.5" pattern. Not sure on the years but I know a lot of Grand Cherokee's (ZJ) came with 16" wheels in the same pattern. I also believe the 1st Gen Liberty's had the same...

    Wondering what you all think

Opinions will differ greatly but a couple things I have learned/researched over the years are as follow; 1. Research your lift really well. Many companies (like RE) advertise a " 3" " lift only to find it actually is closer to 4.5" when installed. For me, I want exactly what is advertised...
