Check out the Latitude camper. I saw it at the Mid Atlantic overland festival last fall and was very impressed. Would be a nice setup for a family.
Good price too.
Setup time a bit too long for what I was looking for but otherwise an exciting new offering.
Jon - might I suggest you wonder over to Wonder the west where you can do a ton of reading and research on these units.
The height would be a cosmetic issue only. There may even be some runners on the bottom of the floor pack that could be removed to effectively lower the unit when it sits...
Greetings all,
I was hoping to get some input on everyone's favorite light weight set of wheel chocks they like to keep in their front nose box?
I can use rocks, logs, scraps of 4 x 4 but thought there might be a low cost low weight solution instead.
Do you really need a 25 gallon water tank? For a vehicle meant for one, max two people that seems to be a lot. I guess if the space can't be better utilized for something else then you might as well have a larger capacity tank since you obviously don't need to fill it.
200lbs of water would...
Drew - I am following you around Expo this evening :)
I am 6'2" and sleep on top of my drawer system in the 100 from time to time. I forget the height of the drawers, but I have a half inch piece of plywood I place on top of the folded down passenger side 2nd row seat and sleep on that...
One more note.... for our uses the dual battery system was a waste of time and money and weight. The fridge runs off the aux battery which is smaller than the main battery. We don't ever stay parked for more than 2-3 days at a time, so a nice grp31 main battery with a 150W solar system...
I have 150 amp fuses on either end of the 2# cable running b/w the dual batteries. It has worked just fine. I have a 150amp BS breaker coming off the dual batter on 4# wire running back to the cargo area for my sub panel.
The responses above are from folks way more intelligent on electrical...
Looked into this a few times and it is ridiculously expensive. At least 2x the cost of shipping your truck. When I was considering buying a trailer across country I was going to just ship my truck out and use it as an excuse for a nice little adventure/road trip.
Mph - I have a 100 series and just bought a Hawk and a flatbed to tow behind the 100. We just took a 1500 mile trip to Nashville to buy the Hawk and put it on the back of my work truck, a 2012 Tundra.
I am not sure how much I'll love towing a trailer around, but the 100 just has so much...
We just got a used Hawk and spent 3 nights camping in it on the way home, so my total experience has only been those 3 nights, therefor take this with a grain of salt.
The Hawk side dinette works great for the 4 of us plus a dog. My wife, my 8 month old son and myself slept up top. They say...
